Beautiful Location, But Villa Needs Work (RATS Included!!!!!!!)

Avoid this place at all costs. The condo is inside Emotions Hotel, and before you even check in, you’re aggressively targeted by sales reps pushing timeshares and all-inclusive packages. If you don’t buy in, expect nonstop harassment for the duration of your stay.The unit itself is in terrible shape. The patio door didn’t lock properly—we had to wedge it shut with a metal rod for safety. The AC shut off randomly, and we spent an entire day and night sweating with no fix in sight. Decor is falling apart, the bathroom vanity was detaching from the wall, and both rainfall showerheads were broken. One bathroom had a leak that made the entire hallway reek of mold.The kitchen was the worst. The fridge constantly leaked water from the bottom, making the floor a slipping hazard — my 75 year old mom almost slipped numerous times, despite us constantly cleaning the spill. But the real nightmare? RATS. We discovered food tampered with (chewed oatmeal packages and fruit), and an exterminator confirmed droppings under the sink and in the dish cabinets. After this, none of us wanted to cook or use any cups/plates. One even ran into the living room on our last night. We asked the owner for a partial refund due to lack of AC and a rat-infested kitchen. Her only offer? One free night on a future stay. Absolutely never, not even under duress, would we ever stay here again. This place is falling apart, smells like mold, and has a rodent problem. You’ve been warned....

Great Location

Great location right on the beach, but the condo was a little run down with mold. The biggest issue was checking in. Our room wasn’t ready at the check in time and we weren’t allowed to stay past our check out time (they gave us 30 mins even though our room was late over 1.5 hours) which was sad.

Beautiful Oasis

We had the most amazing time celebrating our anniversary. The location truly feels like you have your own little condo on the beach. The communication and guidance was top notch and never made me feel bad about all my touristy questions :) The resort itself was small but adequate. I don't think older kids would have enough to do.

Absolute paradise!

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Playa Dorada! This property is wonderfully maintained, well appointed, clean, and full of amenities. By being right on the beach, having a refreshing plunge pool, and a relaxing sitting/eating outdoor area you have everything you need without having to leave the comfort of your condo! We had a minor problem with the master shower but the properry manager was prompt in fixing the matter and her communication was outstanding. We did not pay for the all inclusive option, but still enjoyed the amenities of the resort and enjoyed trying different restaurants in the Puerta Plata area. We were able to easily use Uber for transportation to the grocery store and restaurants. I would eagerly stay here again…you will not be disappointed!

Great apartment and location

The location and apartment were exactly as described on the VRBO website. The only minor issue was that the property management staff was not very welcoming; we weren't sure where to check in, and they were not very forthcoming with information about what you could and couldn't use while on the resort property. When asked what we could do, they provided incorrect information. We asked if we could order food from our apartment, and we were told we could. We later discovered that because we did not receive the all-inclusive package, ordering food to be delivered incurs a high fee. It didn't ruin the vacation; it was just a minor misunderstanding on their part. I still think it's a great place to have fun, but keep in mind that they aren't particularly interested in providing information unless you ask.

Die Wohnung hat eine tolle Lage mit super Sicht aufs Meer. Das Frühstücksbuffet in der Anlage bietet alles über smoothies, obst, frisches Omelett, kuchen/kekse und einiges mehr. Die Terrassenmöbel sind leider schonsehr mitgenommen

Stunning

We really enjoyed our stay in Stephanie’s condo. You would have a hard time finding a place closer to the beach or a nicer beach. It was just beautiful. The ground level patio had a large table, couch and small pool for cooling off. At night we felt like we had the beach to ourselves. It was also nice that this portion of the beach was not crowded when we were there, and we had no problem finding lounge chairs. Once we became familiar with the area, we found a beach bar and restaurant. We also found three restaurants within walking distance including an excellent Italian and fusion Japanese restaurant. The unit was clean and very nice, though it might be a little tight for 4 adults. You should be aware that the condo is within an all-inclusive resort. Some may find this an advantage and others a minus. You can use the restaurants and bars, but you have to pay for a day pass. It was $85.00/person when we were there. You can also pay in the lobby for individual meals. We are over all-inclusive buffets and standing in line for a-la-cart restaurant reservations, but that is us.

Great location on the beach!

We loved staying here! It's right on the beach and the apartment was very comfortable. Tatiana (apartment manager) was very communicative and helpful. The only issue...unfortunately, there was a very strong chemical smell that began permeating our room our first night, in the early morning. Hotel maintenance did not come out to check when contacted by Tatiana which was concerning as it could have been serious. We thought it could be the AC unit or pesticides. We didn't know. In the end, it's likely it was a new toilet bowl sanitizer that the manager suggested was the problem after we had left based on her talk with the housecleaners. We must have overlooked it. We hope that brand will never be used again for the sake of future guests. We have read reviews about the brand, and it has made people's eyes water. We were almost to that point ourselves. We had to keep our bathroom door closed so the rest of the apartment could be used, but then when we went inside for anything, it was even stronger. If they can eliminate that issue, this place is a 5+! Again, great location, and Tatiana did everything she could to get a maintenance worker out. Other than that...be sure you are clear on which restaurants and facilities you can use while in the apartment. Some hotel restaurants/bars are only for hotel guests. We loved Green Jack Tar restaurant down the beach and the buffet breakfast was ok on the hotel grounds that we could pay for per person. Hope this helps!

Amazing stay!!

My girlfriend and I came here for our 5th year anniversary and the property exceeded our expectations. Anything was clean and in perfect order. Our host was on point!! We were left great instructions on where to go, places to eat etc., you are literally steps away from the beach and if you don’t want to go to the beach you can just hop in the pool right outside of the master bedroom. 5 stars!! Definitely would rent it again!!

Phenomenal view and accommodations

We recently returned from Puerto Plata with our family of 6 and I never imagined that I would ever be able to afford a condo with such an amazing view and location. The communication with condo owners was easy and prompt. We had the very best week. The condo was clean and just as expected.. They had a lady come and clean it while we were there and gave us clean linens which was nice since we had it for a whole week. They also came and cleaned the pool during the week.. We had no other choice than to arrive a few hours before check-in as our flight arrived at 10 AM. The resort was very accommodating and understanding and let the kids use the pools while we waited for our room to be ready.. The resort was very quiet during the first half of the week as travel from foreign countries is still very slow In the Puerto Plata area. This actually made me sad because so many of the other resorts in the area were still closed down and you can definitely see that it is still going to be a long road ahead until this area recovers economically from covid. We had anticipated walking to the restaurants in the area rather than doing the all inclusive for the whole week but it turns out that the restaurants that were mentioned in the earlier reviews are now closed down and the Playa Dorada mall is a ghost town. We still manged to find one restaurant that we could walk to just down the beach at the Black Tar resort. The Dominican people went out of there way to make us feel welcome and we were very impressed by all the workers at the Emotions resort. We would absolutely love to come back someday and we would recommend it to anyone considering travel to this area. Some of our other highlights were 27 waterfalls, paradise Island had the best snorkeling we have ever seen and we loved our cab drive Jose Sosa. We would recommend him to anyone.

A Hidden Gem in the DR

We are longtime VRBO users and without a doubt this was one of the most fantastic properties we have ever stayed in. This property is the real deal. First, the pictures are accurate to a T. ....beds were comfortable, appliances up to date, everything in the condo met or exceeded expectations. The patio became our favorite spot in the condo....from Morning coffee to our mid day lunch break, to evening cocktails ...the spacious and well appointed patio area became our fav spot. Also, the small dipping pool was a nice feature to cool off a bit after a hot day under the DR sun. Second,' you are steps from one of the most beautiful beaches you could possibly want. Pretty much uncrowded with plenty of comfortable beach lounge chairs for your use. This is one of the most beautiful and expansive beaches I have encountered in the Caribbean. The resort staff was friendly and professional. This resort was so all encompassing you don't need to leave, but don't fall into that easy choice, get off the property and enjoy some great restaurants all within easy walking distance. Our favorite quickly became Tee Off...with a five star Michelin chef to the courteous professional host, Juan Carlos, this dining spot must not be missed. And whatever the chef is recommending, try it..also the setting on the golf course is breathtaking. Don't miss this superb dining experience. The little family run Italian restaurant inside the mall area is great also. Finally, nothing goes without a few hiccups...and if you have ever owned property, especially rental property, you accept this, but it is how you respond that makes the difference.Our onsite go to person was Tatiana and what an asset she was. From a dimished hot water supply to internet connectivity issues Tatiana was never far away, responses came within minutes not hours and all issues resolved ...again exceeding expectations on all fronts. This is probably the premier unit in the entire resort. From the view drinking morning coffee to enjoying the resort facilities...this is the real deal. Kick off your shoes and enjoy the sun and sand and relaxation this property brings to your life .

A true five-star place to stay in Playa Dorada

We booked this beautiful condo for our honeymoon and were not disappointed! The unit was perfect. It has just the right amount of space for us to hang out and chill. I can't tell you how many hours I spent relaxing on the deck, watching the waves, enjoying the shade provided by the umbrella, but basking in the warm air. Hanging out in our own private pool, and just relaxing! The unit was perfect. The ocean in front never really calmed down enough for us to want to swim right there, but if you walk about 3 minutes to the east, there is a calmer area to get in and play. As guests, we had full access to hotel events and activities. The staff at the hotel were great. We had fun with the mini-golf. That said. A reviewer below gave a not so great review about the food offered at the resort, and I wish we had taken heed. If you think you want to purchase the all-inclusive meal package, I'd recommend you try it before you buy it. For the most part, it was not that good except the lobster on the beach - that was delicious and worth the splurge. The walk to the Playa Dorada mall is just moments away. You HAVE to go to La Tarrapa to have pizza. So good! My recommendation? Get off the resort for great food! Stay at Wilfreds for the best unit at Emotions!
