We really enjoyed staying at Bernado’s Buenos Dias condominium in Puerto Morelos (PM). Bernado and his wife were super friendly and helpful in guiding us finding places and making activity suggestions during our stay—in near perfect English. Bernado promptly replied to our emails regarding practical questions before we got there. The location of the condo is perfect: walking distance to the supermarket (1 km – 10 min.) and “urban” PM, 3 km – 15 min. lovely bike ride to the beach and the other” resort” section of PM. It takes 20 min. to get from and to Cancun airport using the very reliable ADO bus service for only 122 pesos. The condo itself is located in a quiet gated (safe) new development in the PM urban neighborhood of Puntanera. There are multiple excellent restaurants offering genuine Mexican food both in urban and “beach” PM. The beach is calm and very pretty. There is a lot of seaweed, but locals try to remove as much as possible. (This is a new “problem” not specific to beaches in PM—the same observation applies to Playa del Carmen, Cancun, etc.) Snorkeling from the shore is limited, but for 500 pesos one can go on a 2h-snorkeling expedition by boat to the PM reef—one of the biggest and healthiest reefs in the world. Fishing expeditions are also available, as well as ruins and cenotes visits, etc. Our unit was modern (1 year old), clean, and super-efficient for our needs. We had 2 totally independent bedrooms (separate entrances & bathrooms), one common kitchen, 2 balconies, as well as an outside smoking area. The condo was very spacious and decorated with great taste. The building is adjacent to the jungle, which contains lagoons with fish (if you’re into fishing). A bonus was frequent visits from Bernado’s charming cat and conversations with Pepe the Perot. Highly recommended. We are already planning to go back.
