My family and I just got back from Saint Lucia on April 1. We stayed in Paradise View house for 12 days. It was a wonderful vacation, especially because of a perfect place we found for our stay and nice people we met along the way!
Lorraine was great, very helpful and accommodating. She was minutes away when we needed her and could be reached by a local phone that was in the house. She made sure we had some food for when we arrive and stocked up the fridge with some local produce, which was greatly appreciated! Her house was very nice, spacious and clean. Washing machine was a big convenience.Great Wi-Fi at all times! It's located on a large yard, surrounded by tropical trees and gorgeous flowers. We loved the tranquil location of it.The house is on a hill, so, there is always a breeze, no need for air conditioner. Very picturesque view. Fox Groove rest. next door was very nice. You can use their pool if have dinner there.
The highlight of the trip were 3 tours with Melvin. It's for everyone who wants to see an untouched best of Saint Lucia. Loraine recommended him to us and we were very thankful. Melvin is such a nice guy! Very knowledgeable and friendly, in touch with nature. He knows paths into the jungle to the beautiful waterfall, where there is no one else but you and the nature. He took us fishing, and prepared it on the beach.Just wonderful! Every trip we leaned so much about the vegetation of Saint Lucia! He would show us different plants, trees, pick up fruits from the trees and we would eat them if they were ripe.
A small minus is that there are no beaches in a walking vicinity. You can see the ocean from the balcony, but to get there takes about an hour or more of walking. Locals seem to have no problems walking anywhere in the heat and up some very hilly roads. We found a great beach by Vieux Fort which is about 25 min.away by car. It's right by the highway, by the airport. There is a place with benches and trees where you can park in the shade. One side of the beach is wavy - by the parasailing rentals and the other side just around the pick point is calmer, no weeds, darker areas under the water are corals, so we snorkelled right there as well.We liked it better than the beaches on the Caribbean side.
An absolute must to have a car! But be careful driving on the left side of a road. The local drivers are not to forgiving or patient with tourists.Almost no signs on the road! Hard to get around.
Thank you all!
