All the reviews you've already read are true. The people that run GHD truly make this place special. The rooms are small, but well thought out. We had Room 402 and the view was stunning. The breakfast was like a work of art. One morning we werent feeling well and they brought it to our room. They brought us coffees to our room every morning before breakfast and even bottles of water. They helped us with directions, Ubers, dinner suggestions, and were very friendly and kind. We are on our 3rd hotel on our Portugal trip, and we didnt realize how good we had it until we were gone. Thanks to all of you for starting our trip off right. Love, the Twins.

We can't love this place enough. EVERY staff member was so helpful and accommodating. I will tell everyone staying in Porto that GHD is a MUST stay. Shout out to Philip for a great welcome. And, the lady working the dest in the am (sorry don't remember her her) was so nice. Ohh , and fantastic breakfast as well.

Luisa and Luis were outstanding hosts throughout our five day visit. They went above and beyond what could be expected to anticipate all of our needs, including booking plane and train transportation when ours was unexpectedly cancelled. We have never received such fine service, from any lodging, no matter how many stars they’ve earned. Breakfast was wonderful and our bed was the best of our two month trip. This stay was the highlight of our trip.

We loved staying here while visiting Porto! We stayed for 3 nights, and the staff and services were impeccable! Highly recommend if you are looking for a small boutique style hotel! Luis checked us in, and he was great giving us recommendations for tours and dining! Luisa was also beyond helpful, we just loved how accommodating and friendly they were with us! Breakfast every morning was perfect! We had an early flight and they accommodated us with an extra early breakfast; and beautiful Luisa even helped take our luggage up to the Main Street! We will definitely come back to Guest House Douro!!

A mixed bag
So the service from the staff is too notch and you can’t beat the location. Breakfast was amazing and help getting around as well. But the room we stayed in was super small, had scuffs on the walls and shower that would not drain properly. The room was super tight for two people.

We had a wonderful stay in Guest House Douro. The location is excellent and very easy to all attractions. The service team, Luisa, Hugo and Luis are the most friendly people and very helpful for every question we have asked. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast. Een hele fijne geest house met uitzicht op de rivier vlakbij de iconische de brug over de Duoro. De kamer is klein, maar de service is top. Glas port van het huis, geweldig ontbijt met veel vers fruit.

20 steps from the walk around the River Douro to board boats, eat on the water, get to metro and walk to many of the sites. It is at the bottom of the hill next to the water. Our room overlooked the water with beautiful view. Breakfast was excellent with Fruits, Juices and pastries (Fancy Continental style). The staff was enjoyable to talk to and very kind and knowledgeable. Definitely a great place to overlook Porto and walk to most of the sites.

Best place in Porto!
Wowwwww! We are over the top happy with this 3 day stay. The location is is on the Douro and walking distance to all the historic attractions. Our room was stylish, immaculate and had sweeping views of Porto. We enjoyed an amazing breakfast every morning, and loved the extra details the staff provide, including room service our last morning. Highly recommend a stay here and we will absolutely return.

Wonderful stay right on the river. Luis and Connie were fantastic hosts at the property, so very kind and helpful. Luis made up an incredible breakfast each day and enjoyed talking with him. Would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Porto.

Could not have been happier with our choice of where to stay in Porto. Breakfast consisted of a delicious range of fruit, crusty bread, cheese, fruit juice and coffee - brilliant! Staff are a real asset and could not have done more for us. Position of the guest house is hard to beat, with easy access to the river, all sights and Gaia. Could not have asked for more on a short break.

The desk staff were extremely helpful and informative. They were able to recommend restaurants and make reservations for us. They also recommended sights to see and places to go. The tower of delicious, exotic fruit with breakfast was particularly wonderful. We stayed there three nights when we first got to Portugal and two nights before we flew home. I would say that our enjoyment of Porto was very much enhanced by our stay at Guesthouse Douro. And if that weren’t enough when our flight out was delayed 4 hours they graciously allowed us to have a late check out. We were blown away!

Absolutely lovely hotel with fantastic staff well- located right on the river. Gorgeous breakfast, quiet rooms and very clean. Rooms are TINY but very comfortable and would highly recommend! (No fridge in room but staff happily offered to keep our water bottles in the kitchen fridge). Views of the river and at sunrise were stunning.

The staff is extremely helpful which made our first time visit to Porto a pleasure. They arranged taxis and recommended restaurants and cultural sites. The breakfasts were beautiful and served in style. Our city view room overlooks the small street of historic buildings with residences above and cafes below. It is quiet and perfectly fine for us, since we are only there to sleep. We are looking forward to returning to Guest House Douro next week for a few more days in Porto!

Awesome and wonderful riverfront boutique hotel in the heart of Porto! Easily accessible and smack in the middle to everything and anything you need and desire. The heart of this fantastic hotel are the owners Hugo and Luisa and the professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated staff members (Luis, Denis,Sam, Connie). Everyone was always available and had a smile on their faces which brought more sunshine to Porto. Delicious and generous breakfast. Clean and spacious rooms. We will definitely recommend this place and will be repeat customers for the near future.
