I was traveling with my daughter and infant granddaughter. About a month out, when I realized there was no elevator and 2 flights of narrow stairs, and we had 3 pieces of luggage and a stroller, I wanted to cancel our reservation but there is a NO REFUND POLICY on this unit. I asked the owner if we could get in before the late afternoon check-in since we landed at the airport at 11:00 a.m. and we had a baby with us. She said 2 p.m. at the earliest even though no one had rented the unit the day before, which means she could have had the unit ready for us first thing that day but just didn't want to accommodate us. Therefore, we were forced (remember the no refund policy!) to rent the unit the day before we arrived in Portland so we could go straight to the unit. When we opened the front door we were looking at a dresser and 6 bags of laundry in the tiny foyer. After getting the 3 suitcases up the first flight of stairs, we could only muster the energy to get one more suitcase up the second set of very narrow, steep stairs. So we left the other two suitcases on the 2nd floor landing. Left the stroller on the first floor next to the bags of laundry. The unit was clean, but a full length mirror had fallen (no one's fault) and shattered and there was no broom in the unit. There was a nice outdoor patio that would have been nice to use in the evening, but all 3 nights we were there, the unit below us that was to our immediate right and just about 10 feet below, had a loud gathering and music and singing (yes, singing) so we couldn't even hear each other talking so we retreated indoors. We could still hear the party from inside but at least we could hear each other. I can't blame anyone for that--its their right to do that but kinda ruined our chance to use the patio. It may be because of the pandemic but at least 50% of the shops and restaurants in this neighborhood were closed. You can walk to the shops and restaurants on the waterfront easy enough (10 to 15 minute walk) but you definitely want to leave this neighborhood to eat and drink.
If you are someone who likes the bedroom dark when you sleep, bring an eye mask. Both bedrooms have transparent bamboo-type shades, and the street lights shine thru at night.
I would suggest to anyone thinking about this unit to think twice if you have: a suitcase, or a child, or a stroller, or a bad knee, or 2 bad knees!
