Beautiful location but the home needs serious TLC
We just stayed at this bayfront property in Cape San Blas and while there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience was mixed. The location is absolutely gorgeous—right on the bay with breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. We loved fishing off the dock, and the home was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate multiple families. The covered parking was a plus, and we appreciated having access to paddle boards and kayaks. However, the property itself is in need of significant maintenance. One of the refrigerators wasn’t working when we arrived, which was frustrating. The pool was dirty (with dead frogs and leaves), and it clearly needs resurfacing. The hot tub was warm, but the jets and lights didn’t work, and it looked extremely dated. The house shows a lot of wear and tear—chipped paint, broken boards on the outdoor stairwell, outdated fixtures, and multiple lights and outlets that didn’t work in the screened-in patio area. On top of that, there was a snake in the backyard that lingered throughout our stay, which scared the kids and made it hard to relax outside.Even small things like broken kitchen utensils (e.g., the pizza cutter) added up. While the setting is truly special, the house is in rough shape. For the price being charged, we expected a much higher quality experience. With some serious updates and routine maintenance, this home could be amazing—but in its current condition, it’s overpriced.
