  • Welcome to Captain Bill's Guest House at Cagels Mill Lake (aka Cataract Lake)! This gorgeous home offers modern amenities in a countryside setting. Perfect for hikers, bikers, boaters, fishermen and anyone looking to unplug and enjoy lake life or just breath the country air. This two-story home is newly remodeled with modern decor and an updated fully-stocked kitchen. You will love the open concept and natural light along with your very own private balcony.

    We're located seconds from the boat ramp and a short drive to scenic Cataract Falls and Lieber State Recreation Area. Boat parking is available and easily accessible on the property. For those of you who want a motorcycle adventure, the house is centrally located around some of the best country riding roads in the state. Garage parking is permitted for motorcycles.

    Next to Captain Bill's guest house is Captain Bill's main home. Depending on the time of year, guests are welcome to our shared seasonal heated pool. The pool is in a private setting and offered to our rental guests. Depending on when you go you may have the entire pool area to yourself or shared with Captain Bill and friends.

Lovely and relaxing

Really enjoyed our stay here, The hosts were wonderful and helpful. The place was perfect for the two of us and the surrounding area was beautiful. Interesting places to see were the Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, the Owen Valley Winery, and several good diners near by.

Nice place to spend a long weekend

My husband and I enjoyed our time here over the labor day weekend. It was a nice and comfortable place to stay. The pool was wonderful to have access to.

Excellent relaxing stay

Captain Bill's Guest House was a wonderful choice for us. We wanted to go hiking at the various state parks in the area and there were several excellent ones nearby. After a full day of hiking we were able to go back and relax by the pool. I have never seen a more beautifully landscaped pool area. It was truly amazing! There was lots of shade if you did not want to be in the heat of the sun or you could get full sun if you wanted.Uncle Bill was extremely friendly! At first we were a bit nervous about sharing the pool area with other guests and the owner but Uncle Bill and the other guests were very welcoming and we enjoyed visiting with them.A fantastic choice!

Girls Getaway

We loved the relaxing pool area, the back deck up in the trees and the studio rental was the perfect amount of space for us. Thank you for your quick responses to our questions. We would love to bring more friends and fill all the units and the pool area! Loved this hidden gem!

Indiana family

Perfect location close to our Indiana family for visiting grandkids with the pool access as an extra perk. Captain Bill and First Mate Becky are very welcoming and gracious hosts. Loved the nautical theme and size of the garage upstairs apartment, although there's a noticeable musty smell and signs of some water damage on the ceiling kitchen area; the patio furniture appeared to have never been cleaned yet this summer, otherwise would have given a 5.

13th. Wedding Anniversary getaway

We thought the property was well maintained. The guest house had all the amenities from mood lights, music, sleep and relaxing sound machines to cooking and privacy. We enjoyed sitting by the pool and on the deck. We enjoyed two TV with prime, netflix and HBO to watch in the bed and LR. We enjoyed our two days. We also went to Cataract Falls, Chicago pizza to eat and Spencer to shop.

4th Of July Mini Vacay

We chose this place for a last minute mini vacation and wanted a place with a pool for our son and nephew to swim. Location is one hour from our home but the place felt like a resort in another state! Captain Bill and First Mate Becky are very generous to share their beautiful space ! The apartment had everything needed to cook , clean and play! We also met new friends that were staying in one of Captain Bills other cottages down the hill from us. Our son said to give this place a 10/10 and we AGREE! We will be planning another trip here soon :) Thank you Captain Bill and First Mate Becky !!!
