We just returned home after our stay at Camp Amherst. What a great experience! The house was immaculate, solid, comfortable and fully stocked. It was easy to get in and out; equidistant to Rutland and Woodstock; setting was stunning. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
We are in our 50s, traveling with our 7yo son and my husband's parents in their late 70s. Everyone found Camp Amherst to be perfect for us. It has a VERY USEFUL mudroom upon entering -- everyone loved this! There are separate heat units in every room, not that we needed them -- this place is tight as a drum! No drafts at all. We actually turned the heat completely off on the second floor at night because we like to sleep cool. Despite being in the teens outside, we were still cozy overnight. Turning off the heat had the added benefit of turning off the white lights on each unit -- pitch black sleep!
We loved that each bedroom upstairs has its own bathroom. The king mattress is memory foam, while the three twin mattresses are lighter with a more bouncy feel. Lots of pillows and towels. ALL the linens in this house were luxurious, including the bed quilts, the sheets, the pillows, the towels.
Cooking and dining was very easy. Plenty of space to prep and serve food. Dish liquid, paper towels, hand soap, sponges, trash bags -- all were supplied.
We all enjoyed the body wash, shampoo and conditioners installed in the bathrooms. And the radiant floor heating was awesome!
Great vacation spot!
