GOOD: View was fantastic, location was perfect, close to the beach, restaurants and downtown shopping area. Furniture, balcony and kitchen were all good. Property management responded very quickly when we needed them.BAD: Horrible sewer smell in both bathrooms. They put covers on the drains but the actual smell was coming from the toilets. The maintenance man came out twice to try and fix the smell but it didn’t improve. We informed the property manager again, but we were leaving the next day so we didn’t ask for anyone to come back out again. The only other down side was that the water temperature when taking showers got cold very quickly. Hot water replenished quickly but just didn’t last long.Outside of the plumbing issues we had a nice stay.

THE GOOD:-Check-in is straight forward-Easy to unlock and get into the unit-The kitchen is fully functional and updated which is great, compared to some of the other el Faro units we’ve stayed in.-LOVED having an in-unit washer and dryer!-The pool, workout facilities, staff, and overall place is in good shape, aside from elevator not working form time to time.THE BAD:-the unit wreaked of sewage. Wreaked! We had to run water in all bathrooms, heavily use essential oils and even buy a ton of baking soda to soak up the scents. On top of that we had to use pan covers to cover floor drain covers from sewage stench filling the air.-we brought our own zip-lock bags in the event that no covered bins were provided in the bathrooms—and we are glad that we did because while the decorative bins were darling, they did not mitigate the stench from toilet papers that are not to be flushed (yuck!)-The front bedroom, where our children were meant to sleep was filled with mildew and mold from the HVAC split system. Not sure if it had ever been cleaned, but our kids had to take allergy medicine all week with one of our kids having to sleep out side of the bedroom, which was a bummer.We stay at El Faro because it’s a familiar site to our family, we have friends who own units in the building and we all stay at the same time, in different units. Love the updates to this unit & truly appreciate the modern vibe—we just wish that the health piece was also addressed.

This was a very nice 2 bed/bath apartment. Easy for our family of 3, including a 17y. The room was spacious and comfortable. The balcony was also spacious and comfortable with a nice view. The water cooler was a nice addition as well. The apartment complex was easy to navigate and quiet. The property is very close to all the hustle and bustle of the city as well. The management company that handled the rental communicated very effectively and helped make things smooth. The local staff was helpful and friendly. Overall, a great place to stay with your family!

Awesome location and place!

The location was amazing and we would totally stay here again. I would love to go ahead and plan our next stay! My only complaint is that the master bed was a little hard and the blankets weren’t very warm. This may have been due to the AC working a little too well and blowing directly on us while we were sleeping. But an extra blanket or two would fix it.

Perfect, near 5th avenue and beachfront

This place was perfect for my family because it was beachfront with pool and walking distance to 5th avenue as well as other stores. We loved that Walmart was so close to us and the apartment had washer and dryer! That was a must for us because of our kids. The staff was very helpful and friendly! The apartment was air conditioned and spacious, it fit our needs!

El Faro Reef 303 Playa del Carmen

Location was great and close to everything we wanted within walking distance (ferry, restaurant, shopping, groceries). Unit was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for basic cooking. Could use some new pillows as the current ones are a bit past their prime. Pool was wonderful. Lots of space and looked out onto the ocean. Beach in this part of playa looks like it has been eroded quite a bit, so not much usable beach right in front of El Faro, but just a little ways down the beach it gets much wider and the entry to the ocean has fewer rocks so that was ok. Was a wonderful stay and would stay here again.

Great Location

We had a wonderful stay at Reef 303. The condo was well equipped and very clean. Vivian came pretty much every other day to clean and bring fresh towels. The location couldn’t be better, right on the beach and close to many great restaurants. Our only complaint was that the patio door wouldn’t lock but being on the 3rd floor we weren’t too concerned about safety.
