House and views were was amazing. Our stay at the Sugarland property (2/22/26–2/24/26) was severely impacted by raw sewage backing up throughout the entire lower level of the home, making portions of the property unsafe and unusable. Despite an inspector clearing the home prior to check-in, we encountered undisclosed issues immediately: a locked bedroom (#12) and a persistent sewage odor near the pool. The following morning, multiple bathrooms were flooded with sewage, feces was visible on bathroom floors, showers were backed up, and sewage water spread into the media room, soaking four couches and rendering that space unusable for the remainder of our stay.Emergency plumbing and sewage pumping services were required, and odors spread into the second floor. As someone in the medical field, I must stress this was a biohazard situation and should have required professional HazMat remediation, which was not performed. We were displaced for much of our short stay, unable to cook in the home, anxious about health exposure (especially for our children), and never received a phone call or direct apology from ownership or AvantStay.While partial credits totaling 1,200 were issued (pool heat, dinner, locked bedroom), this effectively left only 484.75 attributed to the sewage event, which is wholly inadequate given the severity, health risk, loss of use, and failure of inspection and disclosure.Due to the hazardous conditions, undocumented locked bedroom, failed.
