Before arrival, there was an unexpected inconvenience. The host company (Boulevard Stays - BS) required off-platform verification (ID, facial scan, and a deposit card). Fine, but then they emailed to say they failed to process my card even though the reservation had already been paid through VRBO. Plus, their verification instructions didn’t work. When I contacted them, they said everything was fine but didn’t explain the issue.Check-in was smooth, but the front desk agent said my apartment number aloud, which is a basic safety oversight. At about 4 am, water began pouring through our bathroom ceiling, flooding the floor and entryway with an unpleasant smell. Other tenants reported similar issues or worse. The front desk couldn’t reach maintenance or a manager and advised us to contact BS. BS advertises conflicting support hours, which made it difficult to know when help was available. I called and texted starting at 6:30 am AZ time to request a move to a different room (later, to different property) and received no response. With no assistance available, we left and drove home. Only after checkout did they reply. I requested a refund and was told they’d look into it. Two weeks later, there has been no followup. This was disappointing from a company managing multiple “luxury” properties. Guests should be able to reach someone when serious issues occur. When followup is requested, it should occur. I’m appalled.
