Looking for the villa experience in Phoenix? We have stayed at both the Westin Kierland Villas and Marriott's Canyon Villas in Phoenix/Scottsdale several times each. Upon check-in (room wasn't ready until after 4:00 pm as stated), we were told that the adjacent JW resort facilities were not available like usual due to a "black out week". Never once was this communicated to us up front by the host, the actual Marriott point holders who had the week, nor Canyon Villas themselves. The listing itself indicated "use of JW Marriott resort pool and facilities" - but has since changed. A reviewer on the listing indicated they had use of the adjacent JW facilities. If this had been communicated, it may have changed my decision on where to stay. The bed slept well, and no issues within the room as expected. If deciding between Westin Kierland Villas and Marriott Canyon Villas, we would choose Kierland - better location, more updated rooms, greater activities on site, and a more peaceful environment on the grounds. I will give Vacation Candy credit for great communication and the ability to find villa "owners" who have nights to rent out.
