Very old, quirky property, being tall people, getting into our room through what felt like a hobbit hole, was fun! (Although not a problem).
The room was lovely, but the shower tiles could have done with a good clean, one of my pet hates, sorry. A comfy bed, nespresso machine and fresh milk brought to the room, but it was a hot day, so it was a case of coffee now, or gone off milk. We could have gone down for more milk, but decided against it.
Our room was at the back and overlooked the pub garden, it was a very hot bank holiday weekend, so we had the windows open, so could hear all the chatting and laughter from the customers, but it didn’t disturb us.
Breakfast was delicious, we both had full English and thoroughly enjoyed it.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the pub doesn’t serve food on Sunday evenings, but they did offer to book us a table at their sister restaurant just down the road.
We would recommend the Angel, but we did feel the room rate we paid (£200) was pretty steep for a small room in a pub. It may just have been an August bank holiday premium, but we have stayed in similar pubs for considerably less.
