    Deep in the South Downs, Sheepdown is an impeccably designed luxury home. Recently refurbished with a harmonious flourish of heritage charm and modern elegance, it offers an inviting getaway to the historic town of Petworth for responsible, discerning groups of friends and adult families.     Step inside to discover an open-plan living space featuring underfloor heating, vast windows and French doors that bathes the room in natural light. At one end there is a cosy seating nook and writing desk, with a spacious dining area to the other. Through an open doorway, a stylish sitting room showcases a Smart TV, a decorative fireplace, and exposed stonework. Next door the sleek kitchen is a chef’s dream, see the House rules for full appliance list.

    Sheepdown boasts four inviting bedrooms, each radiating warmth and sophistication. Bedroom One is on the ground floor and features a king-size bed (W150cm), a charming window seat, and easy access to a modern shower room next door. The first floor reveals the rest of the sleeping accommodation: Bedroom Two is a super king (W180cm zip-link, which can be split into two singles (2xW90cm) on request) and enjoys stunning vistas. Across the landing, the second family bathroom is fitted with a large double-end bath, separate shower and underfloor heating. Bedroom Three is the master suite, offering a luxurious super king size bed (W180cm) and an en-suite shower room with underfloor heating. At the top of the hallway, Bedroom Four comes with twin single beds (W75cm, which can be zip-linked to make a king size bed (W150cm) on request), and yet more serene views.

    The tranquil gardens offer a true escape, with an enclosed lawn surrounding an old apple tree to the rear, and a front patio and lawn designed for outdoor dining and peaceful moments. Located just moments from Petworth’s town centre, Sheepdown ensures a memorable stay for responsible, discerning groups of friends and adult families.

    Pets: A maximum of 2 small, well-behaved dogs are allowed at a cost of GBP30 each per week or part-week.

    Petworth is best known as the location of the stately home Petworth House and its vast deer park. This old town is quintessential old England, small streets lined with cottages, antique shops, tearooms and restaurants. There are good country pubs nearby, and Petworth town has some fine eateries. There’s a well-stocked Co-op here, or larger Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s supermarkets in Pulborough.

    Nearby sights, attractions and day trips include Midhurst and Cowdray Park, Arundel Castle, the Goodwood Estate, the cathedral city of Chichester and the Sussex coast.

    - Pets: A maximum of 2 small, well-behaved dogs are allowed at a cost of GBP30 each per week or part-week.
    - Search online and contact us for stays over 21 nights (we cannot administrate these via this platform).
    - A security deposit of GBP500 is a condition of booking, if not taken by this platform we will contact you after booking to arrange.
    - Once you have placed your booking request, before we can process your booking we will require some simple additional information such as postal address, direct email and guest details. Please do not book if you are unable to provide this, as we cannot offer a refund on this basis.
    - Arrival and departure times are clearly stated. As our properties can be booked right up until the last minute, we are unable to confirm early check-in or late check-out requests until 24-72 hours prior to your arrival/departure. Should you prefer to guarantee any such request now, please add an additional night to the start and/or end of your booking.
    - Top tip: Adding another night or two may only cost a little extra, or sometimes nothing at all! This is a great way to add some flexibility to your stay (please let us know if you plan to arrive the day after your start date).
    - Sheepdown welcomes responsible adult groups. This property is not suitable for parties – stag, hen and other party groups are not permitted.
    - Apologies but children under the age of 8 are not allowed at this property.
    - One infant up to one year old is welcome in addition to the total guest capacity of this property. Please bring your own cot, cot bedding and highchair.
    - Kitchen facilities: single electric fan oven with grill, 4 induction hobs, tall fridge-freezer, full-size dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, Nespresso coffee machine.
    - Utility cupboard: washing machine, tumble dryer, clothes airer and iron/ironing board.
    - A hairdryer is provided in each bedroom.
    - Bedrooms Two and Four both offer zip-link beds, meaning they can be configured as either a double or two singles for added flexibility. Your preference can be requested in writing up to 4 weeks in advance of arrival, otherwise Bedroom Two will be made as a super king (W180) and Bedroom Four will be made up as a twin (2xW75).
    - Free private parking for 3 cars on the driveway next to the house, plus space for 1 additional car in the adjacent garage. The garage contains a standard 230V UK plug socket for EV charging.
    - For security, CCTV covers the path leading from the parking to the front door. The CCTV does not cover any of the rest of the garden, and there is no internal CCTV.
    - Underfloor heating downstairs and in the bathrooms, radiators in upstairs bedrooms. A fan is also provided in each bedroom.
    - Wi-Fi: Superfast (>30Mbps)

    Accessibility: 9 steps down from the parking area to the garden and front door entrance. One step (15cm) up over the front door threshold. One step (15cm) down from the French doors of the main living area to the level patio, with one step (15cm) up from the patio onto the lawn. Bedroom One is on the ground floor, with an adjacent shower room (5cm lip to the shower tray). Standard staircase (with banister) to the first floor, with one extra step (15cm) to both sides at the top of the stairs (right to Bedroom Two, left to Bedrooms Three, Four and the family bathroom). One additional step (15cm) up further along the upstairs landing to access Bedrooms Three and Four, and one final step (10cm) up to Bedroom Four. We felt at home

Thank you for a comfortable stay! The views are breath taking and we enjoyed lovely walks around Petworth. The house is gorgeous and we felt at home. We were grateful after a long trip to arrive with goodies to get us going. We head back to the US with wonderful memories of Christmas 2025 spent here and would definitely book again.

Thank you for a wonderful experience we had during our short recent stay at your lovely property. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Your attention to detail and thoughtful touches made our family getaway truly special, as we were attending a wedding in the area. The space was not only comfortable but beautifully maintained, providing the perfect back-drop to our family memories. We especially appreciated a well equipped kitchen and the Nespresso machine brought a smile to my face! We loved the cosy dining area and beautiful views. It was clear that you put a lot of care into making sure your guests have everything they need to have a pleasant stay. Thank you once again!
