We have made Island Princess our vacation getaway 3-4 times per year for a number of years using VRBO. We have always loved this property and Okaloosa Island.
This trip was, however, the worst vacation we have ever had. Looking back it was anything BUT a vacation. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find no working A/C or washing machine. When dealing with the property management company, Brooks and Shorey, they were pleasant and alluded to a compensation for the nonexistent washer. BUT there was no call initiated by them after our departure in follow up . . . no apology, no thank you for letting us now repair previously broken appliances during your personally paid vacation, no what can we do to compensate you, no anything. Not wanting to be THAT guy/THAT gal writing a bad review, we sent an email to Brooks and Shorey hoping to come to a fair resolution. We were met with a compensation offer of $133 and some cents. Not sure how this figure was calculated, but it hardly seems fair considering our experiences as follows:
We like a good adventure and meeting new people as much as the next guy, but the next 5 days of vacation were spent with 13 different service people in our condo, some making numerous visits. If you enjoy being given a 3-hr window to expect the service guy every day; handwashing your laundry, dragging box fans around to stay cool, running an obstacle course thru the narrow hall for 1 1/2 days around the displaced washer/dryer, and having your very own water feature, aka a broken water main, then Island Princess 208 is for you.
We are extremely disappointed with the condo owner and with Brooks and Shorey. We paid for an ocean front condo and only really had one day of vacation without having to "work" for Brooks and Shorey and the owner, cleaning up and meeting service people.
Very disillusioned, VRBO!
