The management office was amazing - they even contacted me when our unit was available before the scheduled check in time. The unit was very clean and well stocked for a week of relaxation. Although the unit is not on the gulf, the beach was a very short walk. There was a gorgeous view of the bay out the balcony, so the lack of "water front" was barely missed. Thank you for a great family vacation stay.

Great stay

We had a wonderful stay at this location. The location was super close to the beach. We literally just have to walk/drive through the community and we are at the beach. It was also quiet but convenient to a lot of different restaurants. The condo could use some updates, but with that price it’s a good deal.

I stayed at El Matador, and the property itself was very nice and easy to find. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. and checked in at the front desk. When I presented my service dog’s badge, I was told they did not accept pets. I explained that my dog is not a pet but a service dog, and I offered the badge as the identification I had with me. I was then told that many people buy badges online and that I needed some other type of papers, which immediately made me feel questioned and uncomfortable. Another staff member joined the conversation and said that if we stayed, my service dog would have to remain with me at all times and could not be left alone in the unit, saying, “After all, he is a service dog and should be with you at all times.” By the time I reached the room, I had already received an email explaining the rules about not leaving him alone. I replied that we had purchased six tickets through their booking agent for activities my service dog could not safely attend. I was also unable to swim or use the hot tub. I offered to pay for a sitter but felt this placed an unfair burden on me. The sitter cost an extra $170, and leaving my service dog with a stranger made me very uncomfortable. Although the property was nice, the way the service dog situation was handled made the stay stressful and took away from our trip. I travel often and have left my service dog safely in rooms when an activity was unsafe for him. Because of this experience, I will not book here again and recomm

Convenient location, but the unit needs serious workCheck-in was easy and there was plenty of parking. The pools were great, and the balcony view was beautiful. AC worked well the whole stay. Neighbors were quiet and the unit itself was otherwise clean. Access to the beach was easy as well. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The unit looked far better in photos than in person — it's clearly aged and hasn't been maintained. The flooring is chipping throughout the unit, badly enough that we had to wear shoes at all times to avoid stepping on shards. This is an existing, ongoing issue with the unit — not something we caused — and it should be addressed by the property. The king bed in the master sinks heavily in the middle and needs to be replaced. The shower ran out of hot water quickly, even with short showers. All the kitchen supplies (pots, pans, silverware, plates) were dirty on arrival and had to be washed before use.We also found baby cockroaches in the kitchen area, which we noticed on our last day.The price was on the lower end, but given the condition of the unit and the pest issue, it wasn't worth it. Based on what we saw, this seems to be a building-wide issue — the other units in the building appeared equally old and run down. We would not recommend this property for any trip.

Okaloosa

Our condo at El Matador was exactly as it was pictured and described. Our family of 6 fit perfect. We had never been to Ft. Walton and it did not disappoint. We are used to staying at places that have the beach accessories like chairs and toys as well as things like extra toilet paper, paper towels, etc. Aside from those minor things that overall were not a deal breaker, we look forward to going again. We loved the pool outside of our building and the access to the beach. It was a little slice of paradise. Thankful the owners share their beautiful space.

Perfect for girls getaway

4 women total shared this location. It was just as expected. We didn’t need anything fancy. This fit out needs just right. The kitchen was larger than expected for a place of its size. It was nice and quiet. The pools were nice. No complaints.

Beautiful views of Sunset & Sound

We really enjoyed the location of this unit, away from the beach crowds and beautiful views of the sunsets and inter coastal waterways. The unit could use a few updates with carpet and kitchen countertops, but all in all it was clean. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Facility & Location

Condo was very clean and had everything one would need to stay as long as you wish. Kitchen was well supplied with appliances, cutlery, plates, cups, etc. Plenty of room and within minutes to the beach. Pool was kept very clean and facility offers many amenities. Will definitely stay again!

The property was quiet and out of the main tourist traffic

The views and beach were great. The complex was older but well kept. The 2 pools on site were nice and well maintained. The staff were pleasant. The unit itself could use some updating in the master bath and the dish washer wasn't working well...but who goes on vacation to stay in the room?
