"Friendly owner on site who showed us all the plants on his property. Allowed our kids to squeeze sugar cane and make cane juice one morning. Clean and easy property. "

"Loved the cabin and the setting. Clean and comfortable with amazing forest views. Getting checked in was a bit of a process. Have to call a property manager who drives out to the cabin to let you in. We arrived at check in time and waited almost an hour to be let into the cabin. Call well ahead of arrival time. Otherwise a good stay and a great value."

"The location is close to notable eateries and waterfalls. It was clean and as described in the listing. Keep in mind that there is no air conditioning. It was hot in April, so I'm grateful the host supplied fans. There isn't enough hot water for a shower; the hot water runs out after a minute or two."

"We love this house and location - it’s about an eight minute drive to get to downtown, which is close enough when you need some morning coffee, but far enough to be away from the fray of everything. The cottage was simple, but absolutely perfect for our needs. Three bedrooms with their own AC made for very comfortable evenings. "Perfect cabin with wildlife all around you! The cabin was immaculate! The kitchen has everything you need, we went to the grocery store (5 mins walk from the cabin) bought food. Everything we did was a short drive from the cabin, Selvatura park, El Tigre waterfalls, and local Sodas. Miguel is very helpful anytime I called or texted- he answered immediately."

"Lovely setting but on site owner(?) spoke no English only a child did, so difficult to check in and get things settled. No A/c or heat and it was at first hot then very cold later. Hard to sleep in the cold. No screens on windows or sliding doors. Futons to sleep on were dirty and smelly. Kitchen had very few items to make even coffee and breakfast. Would not recommend. Pretty far from Monteverde Biological Park. You can do better."

"We stayed for eight days and immensely enjoyed the experience. We were glad to have a rental car, but you could walk to town if you wanted to, and we did several times. There are some good tourist businesses within a reasonable walk (Sloth trail, Coffee&Chocolate Tour, Pickleball court, Smokehouse restaurant, 2 other restaurants) and we used them all. Great birdwatching from the deck over breakfast. Nice air conditioning and on-site laundry made for a very comfortable time."

From waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys to enjoying a nice afternoon visit with the neighbor’s horse to dinner with a volcano view in the gazebo we had everything we could have asked for and more. Anna and team were so responsive and helpful they even recommended local activities and restaurants we should try. When our luggage was left behind by the airline, she even offered to be available for the delivery so we wouldn’t have to give up time...

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Castillo. The terrace had an amazing view of Arenal volcano, and we saw so many birds in the backyard. It was amazing to have coffee in morning and watch clouds roll through valley and listen to birdsong. The location is convenient for getting to Fortuna and nearby parks for hiking, but Castillo feels much more quaint and quiet for enjoying peaceful evenings. We cooked in kitchen and had everything we needed to prepare meals. We also loved Ventanita restaurant...
