The house and its location are lovely; the staff welcoming and thoughtful. We could not have imagined a better place to celebrate our forty years together. Our elderly dog was given as warm a welcome and standard of care as were we. The cuisine is top notch - compliments to the chef - and the serving staff’s level of attentiveness well-judged. Small, unexpected extras were much appreciated.

Our experience was excellent! Delightful and very attentive, professional staff, superlatively comfortable bed and bed linen, superb food - diner and breakfast. The building is a little tired - especially the windows but this in no way compromised our great stay!

Go for the incredible food and service
Cringetie is an exceptional place. It's been a very long time since I have been lucky enough to stay in a hotel which truly understands and executes 5 star service consistently. My parents and I had booked in for one night as a stopover whilst driving from York to Dundee, but ended up staying an extra night to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary once we realised what we had stumbled across. Do not hesitate to book multiple nights at this stunning property, and be sure to have dinner. Truly fantastic food.

Hidden Gem
Absolutely one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Lovely surroundings which would be great to walk weather permitting. All staff were so accommodating and extremely helpful. The food was magnificent from breakfast to afternoon tea and evening meal. Thank you to all the staff for making the experience even better.

Wonderful Escape
We spent a wonderful couple of nights at Cringletie. The staff were incredible from reception to housekeeping and restaurant to management. A special mention for Victoria who served us both nights and was so lovely to deal with. The food was excellent - some of the best food we have ever experienced. The room we had was comfortable and well equipped and the extensive grounds are beautiful. It was our first stay but hopefully the first of many.

Anniversary stay
This was a brief ‘anniversary’ stay at this wonderful hotel I have been coming to since I was a child (now 61!). Through various iterations it has maintained and improved its provision and style. High quality, welcoming, pleasurable to stay at and feel part of the family!

We booked for our 35th anniversary as a treat and it was superb. The staff were excellent as was the hotel itself. The food was delicious and a great choice. We had dinner on both nights and breakfast as well. The grounds are lovely-great walks but the early morning jog was hard. There were a lot of uphills! We definitely hope to return though.

Excellent hotel, top class service and excellent food. Made even better by complimentary cocktails before dinner greeted by the general manager, mingling and chatting to other guests (socially distanced of course) and the owner of the hotel.

Lovely looking country house hotel with its own gardens. Great restaurant and bar/lounge areas with garden/hill views. Liked that the hotel showcased local art works and local produce. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Real Gem in The Borders
Marvellous stay. All staff extremely friendly and efficient. Room kept beautifully clean by housekeeping. We were lucky to be staying on the evening when the restaurant served the new autumn menu using locally produced foods. Delicious. I can’t praise this hotel highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful relaxing stay.

Watch out for the bears...
Cringletie House is a super experience: from driving up the long gravel drive; through the very personal reception (more than just a 'check-in'); to the twee rooms (complete with a super-cute teddy bear for adoption. Parent's - and husbands - beware!); and to a most excellent and pleasantly served breakfast. The grounds are extensive and very, very pretty. We had a most pleasant, impromptu stay.

Beautiful location and accommodation. Food was exquisite. Unfortunately not much to do after dinner. Very quite no entertainment. I felt it was rather expensive for the room we had.

Wonderful stay, very recommended
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Cringletie House. We were traveling to Scotland to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary, and from the moment we were greeted by the staff outside the hotel to the moment we left we had a great time. Our rooms were upgraded upon our arrival, all of the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious and the area is beautiful. Would absolutely recommend this place if you want to stay in a quiet, relaxed area still in close distance to Edinburgh.

The hotel and its furnishings, fitments etc. was absolutely first class I was disappointed to some extent over the food which was, at best, OK but in very small portions.

Wonderful Xmas Break
From check-in to check-out, it couldn't have been more perfect. The staff were very friendly and attentive, but without being intrusive.The chef produced excellent meals throughout the stay - a lovely Scottish tasting menu on Xmas Eve and a perfect Xmas Day lunch. Could happily have stayed on for longer! We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions, and unlike others where return visits were disappointing, we find ourselves happily returning to Cringletie time and time again. Can't wait for our first opportunity to return in 2018.

A proper, traditional Country House
From arrival to departure, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive with nothing too much trouble. The dining can only be described as fantastic - whether from the "Bar Menu" or the traditional Dinner Menu. Breakfast selections were excellent and a perfect start to the day.... The hotel has a lovely country house feel, and even though the Hotel was fully booked throughout our stay, it never had the feeling of being crowded. This is a hotel that we use often, and it never fails to please with the experience provided.

This the second time I have stayed at this hotel whilst on a business trip. I find the place very warm and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and are only too please to serve you. I would stronly recommend this hotel.
