Another great getaway!

This was our end trip to this property-we were here in the fall and had a totally different, but equally wonderful trip! This time the kids played in the water-snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, wading and swimming. In the evenings we enjoyed the fire pit and pool table. The stocked kitchen made meal prep easy. Plenty of room and now great memories!

This was our first VT Family Weekend visiting our freshman Hokie. We traveled with two of our kids and had another flying in from college in Boston. This house was just as described - it was spacious for all of us, clean and well equipped. The ride to/from Blacksburg was no more than 30-40 min and gave us refuge after a long day of tailgating, football game and campus activities. The communication before our trip was great and our check-in/check-out was a breeze. Thanks for making our first family trip to Blacksburg memorable!

The home was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Really enjoyed the yard and fire pit. Owner gave clear directions for check in and check out and responded to questions quickly. Highly recommend this property.

Our family had a lovely time at Walker Creek. We enjoyed the spacious house, ate family dinners at the dining table, and played several games of pool in the game room. My husband and son fished every morning using the kayak, canoe, or just walking into the creek. The property is beautiful and peaceful. On our last morning there, my son was fishing, of course, and saw four otters swimming in the creek. They were so curious about what he was doing. It was a great family getaway!

Family Get-A-Way

We had a wonderful time and there was enough room to invite family over for a cookout and also space to have a quiet time away from the crowd. It was easy to find and not far from a lot of activities. I would definitely consider coming back on our next trip to the mountains.

Yearly Guys Fishing Trip

We really enjoyed this location this year, we have stayed at others before, but this one is by far the nicest. Beds are all comfortable, and the location is good for fishing Walker Creek and the New River. And the local friendly dog came every evening to hang out. He loves Hot dogs!

VT Graduation 2025

What a great week we had! Space was large enough for all of us and house was pretty much stocked with everything and more. We took advantage of the kayaks, fishing poles, BBQ, and fire pit!! Nice and relaxing between all our Graduation activities!

Thanksgiving with Syracuse Women’s Volleyball

Syracuse volleyball parents hosted thanksgiving dinner for the team. The place was large enough for 27 people. The outdoor space and lower level provided enough activity for the girls before and after dinner. We had a great time! Thank you 😊

Excellent

Rented the house Thanksgiving weekend with family and attended the VA Tech game. The house was perfect our group of ten. Will definitely come back in the fall when it’s warmer to do some kayaking and fishing. Didn’t have time to use the grill on the back deck but set up overlooking the creek is peaceful.

The Shaffer VTech Bug Fest Weekend

We arrived at night due to traffic from Northern VA. Highly suggest installing a motion detector for night time arrivals. The roads to get there are very curvy, wish we had started earlier to get past the traffic to drive the roads in sunlight verses night. We saw lots of deer, opossums, ground hogs, raccons, and foxes. The house was great! Everyone slept great ! We have some young grandkids so the pool table made us a little nervous. We all thought a pingpong top on the pool table would be great to give a variety to games. Wi-Fi worked great. The fire pit was petfect addition to our evenings and having the firewood there was handy. The weather was awesome. The deck made the perfect outdoor setting to read just like the front porch swing. The kids loved all the stuffed animals on the walls in the basement. Kitchen was very well stocked with items. We bought groceries in Blacksburg at Krogers. We went to Sinkland Pumpkin Patch.We were very surprise at the live music, all the different types of food and drink there. Sinkland had a trail ride with rescued horses. The Bug Fest was very cool especially for all ages. They had a lot of ingeresting exhibits! The location was great to do all the activities we did! Everyone gave it a thumbs up and would like it to be our place for visits to VTECH! ages. The view ages.litwoth them. I

Comfortable, Clean, Quiet

We are repeat renters and will undoubtedly return. The location is very quiet and peaceful – during our stay we saw an otter family, bald eagles and deer. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The living room has comfortable, plentiful seating. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and helpfully includes many spices, oils and other basics. Additional fun amenities include the pool table, large deck with plentiful seating and charcoal grill, river access, kayaks/floaties/folding chairs, fire pit, board games, and DVDs. It’s an easy, 40-minute drive to the VT campus. Entry code is convenient, no need to worry about a key. The host was very responsive. Some minor negatives are dirty floors in the basement (just need to be mopped), broken pinball machine, and no cell service (but wi-fi worked fine). Nothing that will stop us from returning – we will be back!

We were in the area for a wedding, and we stayed here with 4 adults and 3 teens and 1 child. The kids loved the river and all the floats and kayaks the host provided. The house was perfect for our family’s needs. So peaceful!

Very roomy, comfortable house

We had a very comfortable stay at this property. Water was too low for kayaking but the house was very roomy and comfortable. It is as the pictures depicted and the area is extremely quiet. Even though it ended up being only 3 of us staying the house could easily sleep10 as advertised - we stayed there because of a family reunion at my sisters in Blacksburg which took about 40 minutes to get to her house. Would recommend this property to a big group as it can handle it.Thanks for the comfortable stay!
