This house photographed beautifully in VRBO listing, however the house needs quite a bit of updating and maintenance. Generally it seems like this was a beautiful house 25 years ago, but the owners have not put money into maintaining it. I can understand that maintaining a house in a ski area is expensive, but we paid an awful lot of money to rent this. I wouldn’t rent it again.
1. The window frames throughout the house are damaged or decayed. One of the windows we opened required us to go outside to close it again as the window separated from the frame. Window screens were noticeably bent or broken.
2. House advertised as having a three car garage, however, two of the garages were full of the owner’s gear and vehicle, so only one of our cars could park there.
3. The faucet to the sink in the main island of the kitchen was completely broken and wobbled when touched – it was not even attached at the base. That sink also did not drain when our kids poured water into it. This seems like an easy fix for a plumber to repair, but that hadn’t been done before our very expensive rental week.
4. Hot tub did work but the 20+ year old decaying cover did not inspire a lot of desire to get into the tub, and required a leap of faith to even want to remove the cover. Once you got in, the jets and waterfall worked sporadically. We couldn’t get the jets to turn off, or the waterfall to turn on. The hot tub maintenance guy showed up while we were there, and even he commented that the equipment was really dated. He said something like he maintains a lot of hot tubs, and you just don’t equipment that old anymore.
5. Steam shower in hot tub room had a sign that said “temporarily not working”. However, the wear on the sign seemed to indicate that this was way past temporary.
6. Back in the kitchen, the left hand dishwasher completely fell out of its housing if both drawers were opened simultaneously for loading. One whole set of burners in the range would not turn on unless ignited with a lighter.
7. Only one spatula in the entire kitchen and it was cracked. All of the pots and pans were very aged and in worn condition. There was one sauce pan in a massive kitchen.
8. The dryer door would not stay closed unless you pushed it in only at the bottom. Kind of a problem when trying to dry a lot of ski clothing.
9. Two of the hair dryers in the house didn’t work at all, even after reset button.
