We visit the Cape San Blas area every year and look forward to our time there. While the home itself and the location were wonderful, there was one issue we experienced which negatively impacted our vacation experience. Upon arriving, we noticed that two water pumps, one gasoline-powered and the other diesel-powered, were being run to pump water from a French drain out to the barrier dunes. The pumps were located close to the master bedroom and, the gasoline pump in particular, were very loud, making it difficult to sleep. We contacted the property management company, Pristine Properties, for assistance and they responded that they would contact maintenance. When there was no change and no response, I inquired again and was told to contact maintenance myself. I advised the staff member that it wasn’t my responsibility as a guest to coordinate with their maintenance staff.
It appears that there is a drainage problem in the development and the pumps are required as a temporary measure to prevent standing water from accumulating around the home. My family and I would have appreciated being informed about this issue prior to booking. It impacted our ability to sleep and to enjoy the deck and screened in areas of the home. Though the home itself was lovely, the setting beautiful, and the location convenient, we won’t consider the home for future stays. Further, we won’t lease any property managed by Pristine Properties.
