So, we arrived pretty late (around midnight or a little later- We had work then a 6.5 hour drive.) We entered the unit to find someone else’s trash in the kitchen, crumbs on the counter, ketchup (?) on the kitchen floor, greasy hand prints all over the dining room table, dirty towels thrown in the bathroom floor and on vanity, dirty sheets on bed, dirty carpet in bedroom, sand all in the floor, black ants crawling on the kitchen counter. There’s an electrical plug in the living room that has no cover so the wires are exposed. We have a five year old so definitely a safety hazard for anyone traveling with small children. We called the rental company Vacasa as soon as we saw this. After talking to two different employees and waiting a while, all they could say was they could not get in touch with the property manager and there was nothing else they could do so we were basically left on our own… To clean someone else’s mess! My husband ran to the store to get bleach and Clorox so we could wash sheets, scrubs counters and floors, and the nasty bathroom tub. The pull out is broken- any slight weight at the head of it and it will collapse to the floor. We finally got in the bed around 3:30am after cleaning and washing everything. I also called Vrbo (twice) and they had me send in pictures and said they would get me in touch with someone to help find another property. Left on hold for over an hour and no one ever came back to help. We sent pictures to the rental company as well. The rental company said they would call us in the morning and no one did so we called them. They sent someone to clean the unit around 11am that next morning. She was nice and did a decent job. The rental company said they would call to discuss compensation for the troubles but they did not. My husband tried to call twice and got no answer. I did see a credit on my card which I’m assuming is the compensation- possibly the first night rental rate? We also had to buy cleaning supplies and Sunbird charges you to use the washer and dryer. My husband emailed the property manager asking her to call him. She finally emailed back a few days later saying she had been sick and out of office but never called as he requested. He then explained the ordeal in an email to which she never responded or acknowledged the problems with the unit. I wish I could upload the photos to help. This could be a good unit with good location but as it is now, I would not recommend.
