Location is quite good. If you have a car, you can get to everything you want to see quite easily. Be aware that reserving a parking space at the hotel costs 10EU a day!
Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance, so no problem in finding somewhere to eat. BTW the hotel restaurant was closed throughout our stay, so don't rely on being able to eat there.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a little English so it's not too difficult to communicate with them.
Everything is clean but a little dated and sometimes dingy (e.g. the showers).
Beds have thin mattresses but are OK. There is a fridge in each room which is brilliant for storing your own cold drinks. There's a supermarket across the road where you can pick up drinks, snacks and other essentials.
Breakfast is a fairly traditional Italian fare. It's fairly good, especially because it's free and there's a reasonable amount of choice.
Although advertised as having AC, this is absolutely terrible. If you suffer from the heat - as my whole family does - the rooms are very uncomfortable. Sleeping is almost impossible with the noisy and ineffective AC. We had to change room because it simply didn't work. We found the AC was awful in the supposedly better room too. Bring your own travel fan or be prepared to be sweaty for your whole stay.
I would definitely not stay there again because of the AC issue. If you don't mind that, it's pretty good value and makes a good base for exploring Palermo.
