My stay at Ocean Temple in Pahoa, Hawaii, was pure bliss. This oceanfront retreat, backed by 500 acres of state land, is a sanctuary of serene quietness. The soothing sound of the Pacific Ocean and the absence of urban noise created a deeply peaceful escape. At night, the star-filled sky, with the Milky Way in full view, was breathtaking. The 1,100 sq ft open-plan space, once a Buddhist Retreat Center, exudes tranquility. Expansive sliding glass doors frame ocean and garden views, while mahogany accents, a king-size bed with cotton bedding, and plush towels add luxury. The lanai was perfect for sunrise coffee or whale-watching (in winter). A nearby black sand beach offered a serene spot for yoga or reflection.Privacy is ensured with a private entrance, and the shared laundry room is a plus. Nearby Kehena Beach, Volcano National Park, and local farmers’ markets added adventure, but the property’s calm drew me back. Dining options in Pahoa and Uncle Robert’s marketplace delighted with fresh flavors. The cleanest air in the U.S. and vibrant surroundings left me rejuvenated. Ocean Temple’s sacred vibe and serene quietness made it unforgettable. I left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to return.
