I will start with the good... because there isn't much--
Pros:
- location is great
- lots of parking
- nice porch with chairs to relax
- lots of beds to accommodate people
- washer/dryer
Now for the bad... and this is just the main things my group wanted me to highlight--
Cons:
- kitchen was dirty including walls, utensils, drawers, etc.
- stairs into house are loose and a safety hazard
- stair railing going upstairs is also loose and a safety hazard
- the periodic table of sex poster in the downstairs bedroom is inappropriate for a rental... along with several decor items throughout the house (if you have kiddos - DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE)
- rugs on the main floor are ready to trip anyone and cause injury
- there's a weird stale smell throughout the house
- BBQ grill was extremely dirty
- bathroom door has to be slammed shut to get to close all the way
- outside doors to enter house are hollow doors used typically for bedrooms/closets
- bed sheets and towels had stains
- lack of communication/expectations when the fire broke out. The owner didn't answer any of my concerns or questions when I was trying to be proactive since I was hosting a group overnight. Instead, I received a response of, "fires aren't anything new around here. Not all reports are accurate." I'm a PNW native and live in WA. I understand fires are normal. However, at the time, the east side of Packwood was on a level 3 evacuation (get out now) and we didn't know what was going to happen to Packwood. Also, after sending the current reports from the first service, I was still brushed off.
I was NOT impressed at all. I stay in several rentals a year and this is one I will definitely not be going back to or recommending. My group was extremely thankful we only stayed one night. You're better off booking a hotel or a different house. The group I was hosting is from a community of 125K women hikers. I usually send out the link from each rental I book for events because ladies typically rebook for their families or other events. This rental will not be shared.
