Having booked previous overseas holidays through a tour operator I was at first a bit dubious as to what we could expect but right from the booking stage Liz the owner was most helpful and easy to contact. After a 40 minute drive from Alicante airport we were met by the key holder who quickly showed us around the apartment and left us with an information pack. The apartment was lovely and clean and well looked after with aircon throughout (much needed as we visited in July!). Having 2 separate bathrooms both with powerful showers was a bonus and there was always plenty of hot water. The wifi worked well and kept my 2 teenagers happy! The kitchen, although small was very well equipped, although we didn't use it much as we ate out at the local bars and eateries that are within walking distance. There are several to choose from at Punta Marina (about a 15 minute walk away) such as The Captains Table, Wok Buffet and Pizzeria Piccolino, In the other direction, in the middle of a residential area about 5 minutes away is the Central Grill and a few other eateries. On our last evening we went to Fresco's, a pizza restaurant at La Zenia located on the main (N332) road which is a couple of island's up from Punta Marina. The food there was amazing!
The shared pool is across from the apartment and can be accessed via a secure keycoded gate. It was clean and well maintained and was available to use between 9am and 9pm. Most mornings we had the pool to ourselves and there were always plenty of parasols available however there are no sun loungers provided at the pool area.
The local Chinese supermarket on the way to Punta Marina sells absolutely everything such as sun loungers, clothing, bags, beach items, housewares,...….. so worth popping in there if you've forgotten anything.
There's a choice of food supermarkets with a Consum at Punta Marina, a small supermarket near the International Business Centre or a little further on from that there's a large Carrefour.
We drove to a few of the local beaches but our favourite one was Cala de Campoamor as it seemed to be a bit quieter than the others and roadside parking was free at Calle Concha Espina next to the beach. We could then stroll along the beach (about 15 minutes) to the next bay at Mil Palmeras where there's an excellent beach café called Vikingo.
To sum up, this was a lovely apartment that ticked all our boxes and we would happily recommend to anyone. Thanks again to Liz for allowing us to stay.
