Wonderful stay with family. The fisherman in our family loved the ability to bring the boat and the use of the dock and amenities. Beautiful view and peaceful, private setting. I also loved all of the art and pottery pieces in the home.

Perfect stay - in every way! Could not have been more pleased. This lovely home has it all! Screened porch and pier - spot on heaven! Me being ex-USN - was enthralled by the jets flying overhead! Thanks for such a lovely get-a-way!

Exceeded my expectations, even after reading reviews and looking at listing pictures. The place is beautiful and well maintained. I’ve stayed any many rentals and overall this may be my favorite. So clean, so well-organized, had zero issues with anything. SO peaceful. My favorite part was listening to the sound of the wind through the trees and the wind chimes. We will be back 100%.

We loved our stay at this property! The listing was 100% accurate. We worked remotely for the two weeks we were there and had no problem with internet. The living spaces were great, but the screened-in porch is the star of the show! Such a beautiful setting and our dogs loved being able to run in the yard. We travelled from out of state so observing the weather and changing river levels was fascinating! We had lovely days when we spent time kayaking with the provided gear and loved sitting on the dock watching the wildlife too. Because we were there for 14 days, we took a weekend side trip to Wilmington and the ocean beaches which was also fun. We also attended a Friday night concert at the waterfront park in New Bern. We ate dinner in Oriental at Silos and Toucan Grill and enjoyed ice cream at The Bean. The Piggly Wiggly grocery story had everything we needed, and Food Lion was just a bit further away. I highly recommend this property!

Our stay at the Cast Away was exactly as described; A Water Front Getaway! The house was perfect and the dock was enjoyed both day and night. We loved walking around Oriental's docks and neighborhoods.

We just returned, and it was everything that we imagined and wanted we arrived to blue crabs in the crab pot (Which by the way is already in the water hanging off the dock). My son caught fish every single day! The kayaking was so Peaceful. We loved the little town and even took the ferry down to the crystal coast and saw the wild horses. My favorite place was Screened in porch with the beautiful breeze, wind, chimes chirping, birds, and smell of the saltwater.

This home is in a lovely community. It's quiet and relaxing, and the home is well-appointed. My husband is a kayak fisherman and launched his kayak from the nearby ramp, and he had quite a bit of good fishing while we were there.

Great property with dock access for the men to be picked up for hunting. Beautiful view with quiet surroundings. Plenty of space for relaxing and coming meals. Enjoyed the area as well. Will definitely book again.

Cast Away was a wonderful getaway from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life! We thoroughly enjoyed crabbing and kayaking near the dock. We also enjoyed our time on the water (even though fish were nowhere to be found). And the screen porch was perfect! The art in the home is also unique and a breath of fresh air from stock art found in a lot of places. There are also little touches or handmade pottery throughout the home which I thought was lovely. The town of Oriental was pleasant and my son declares The Silos pizza the best pizza he has ever eaten. Two small recommendations would be a grill brush for cleaning the grill and stair treads for the wood stairs. But that wouldn’t stop us from visiting again! Thank you for sharing your gem of a getaway with us!

The house/area is beautiful the closest store is about 5miles away be sure to stockup on necessities ( ie breakfast food , snacks). We really enjoyed our stay very peaceful everyone we encountered was so pleasant. Thank you so much for sharing your space. Markeya

My family and I had such a relaxing time. The scenery with all the nature is what we really enjoyed.The dock for fishing was so nice.I now want a screen porch on my house after enjoying the one one at this house.Very kind town!! We LOVED our stay at Cast Away. The house is appointed perfectly for a family, especially one that has a fisherman. We have been renting vacation homes in NC for 20 years and this was the most comfortable I have ever been. The screened porch was our favorite place to sit and bird watch, Great Horned Owls, wild turkeys, red head woodpeckers, pelicans, herons of all sorts. The fishing was outstanding, We caught a 34" Redfish fron the kayak and hooked a 40"+ right from the dock that broke me off. The crab pot produced every day and even though we didn't keep them the kids loved catching and releasing them. The kitchen was perfect and had everything we needed to cook with. The basement ping pong table and dart board were perfect for the days it rained. We have never in 20 years stayed at the same place twice but this one might be the first.

We love this property. You can see dolphins, river otters, skates, rabbits and deer, all from one place. The views from the house, especially the great screen porch, are perfect and the dock is perfect for boating, playing, and fishing.
