My niece was getting married in nearby, picturesque Washington, Louisiana. I was thrilled when I found a place where my siblings and our kids could all stay together. We were a group of 7 adults and 5 kids. When the mother of the bride stopped by, she commented on how perfect it would have been for the bridal party to stay there, but fortunately, we found it first, HA! The house is gorgeous and well-maintained. It captures that 19th-century feeling, with modern conveniences like wifi and tv! If you love antiques and history, there is interesting eye-candy throughout! My family is one that loves to gather in the kitchen no matter how comfy the living room is, so it was cozy to have couches and a rocker in there, in addition to the dining room table. The large covered patio/carport and porch were also really nice to have on a rainy summer weekend. The enormous yard and gracious oaks make you feel like you're in the country, even though it's in the heart of town. If you pick up Billy's Boudin when you arrive in Opelousas, you can grill it up on the patio grill. (It makes for a delicious breakfast feast for a crowd when paired with Mikey's doughnuts and kolaches. Billy's and Mikey's are like 3-blocks from the manor.) Jonathan is a friendly, generous host who was flexible with our Sunday checkout time. We only had one weekend to all be together, and this place was so welcoming and comfortable! If creating a meaningful, relaxing gathering with your group is what you're looking for, this is the place!
