The house was beautiful; we were impressed by the decor and the size of the rooms. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the number of bathrooms ensured a comfortable stay for everyone. The only downside was a musty smell, which I think was due to the rainy weather we experienced. The host was very friendly and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was immaculately clean, kitchen well stocked with china, cutlery, glass et al. Gardens are beautiful. Abundant games facilities.

This house was perfect for the 10 of us ... Host was great ... Bus to take you downtown San Sebastian right out side ... Easy drive to Bilbao and Guggenheim Museum ... Everything in this elegant house worked and everybody loved it ... Zuberoa Restaurante is within walking distance and it is a wonderful place to eat ... Service and food were fantastic ... This is a Michelin starred restaurante ... Five stars for this house (palace) and we would return ... Thank you for letting us stay here.

Impressive home, to relax and unwind.

We have a wonderful few days in this beautiful house. Our party of nine adults had plenty of space to relax and unwind. All rooms are large with comfortable beds and excellent bath and shower facilities. We did a lot of cooking during our stay, and found the kitchen to be well stocked with good equipment for almost any meal. The host was very understandable with our late arrival thanks to a delayed flight, even going so far as to leave us with an evening snack when we final got there. The property is very private and surrounded by trees on all sides. It sits on the side a hill so the tress do not obscure the view of the country side . to much. The house is only about 20 mins drive from downtown San Sebastien and there is a large supermarket about 3 mins drive away. Getting to the house from Bilbao airport is very simple, and takes just over an hour.

Sept in San sebastian

We are six couples in our sixties and seventies. We had a wonderful week in oiartzun, the week before the film festival in San sebastian. We went to botanic garden in Asia, hiked the camino in pasajes de san Juan, went to the beach in hondarribia and hendaye and san sebastian, ate pinxtos like crazy, played handball in the court downstairs, made wonderful dinners, enjoyed all the space, and had a terrific time. Jose was great.

Perfect vacation home!

This house is fantastic! The living area has a variety of rooms, for reading, watching television, using the internet (yes, it has wifi) or having a conversation or two with dear friends. The kitchen was very well equipped, with a good size clothes washer and dryer, and a dishwasher. Plenty of dishes, pots, pans, and cooking utensils made cooking easy, although the location is near so many excellent restaurants we cooked less than we usually do. We are a mixed group, two couples from England, two from the USA, and one from Sweden. We have been meeting somewhere for a vacation every year or so since 2009 and we all agree this is our favorite house! Joxe is a great host as well, with a table full of recommendations for things to do and see nearby.

Incredible House!

We had an excellent time staying in this magnificent house. As you can see by the pictures, there are many rooms as well as areas for hanging out, reading a book, enjoying a cocktail, or taking a nap! (my personal favorite was the hammock =). The house is truly a masterpiece and the owner Jose does a fantastic job taking care of it. Jose was an excellent host, answered all our questions, and even helped us make dinner reservations we we arrived late on the first night. He was available whenever we needed him. This area of Pais Vasco is gorgeous with tons of small villages, beaches, pintxo bars, and hiking paths explore. The town of Oiartzun is quaint with friendly locals eager to chat and explain their rich culture and history. I will for sure be back at some point in my life!

Fantastic!!

We had a wonderful time at this fantastic place. If you are coming to the San Sebastián area I heartily recommend you use this place as a base. The host, Joxeanjel was charming and could not do enough for us. The house itself is secluded, secure with lovely grounds. The facilities are excellent with all possible needs catered for. Joxeanjel also recommended a visit to Zuberoa, a wonderful, charming Michelin Star restaurant within two minutes' walk of the house. A lovely, small discreet restaurant with a nice homely feel, lovely relaxed service from a very well-informed, friendly team who put us at ease. I particularly liked the fact that they had an extensive wine list (book!) with wines to suit every budget, not always the case in 'fine dining' restaurants and were so helpful in helping us make the right choice. And the food was amazing too! 😊. The house is around a 20 minute drive to the heart of the beautiful San Sebastián and its beaches. The house is surrounded by lovely countryside with lots of countryside walk and hill walks. There is a 15km cycle path which runs close by which takes priority over the cars. Excellent! All in all the perfect escape for a large family or group (we were 12) Thank You!

"Pagaldegarai" was simply fantastic!

The house and the grounds are ideally located, spacious, well maintained and clean. The property owner, Jose, was very gracious and responsive. He asked us to make ourselves at home -- and that's what we did! The location is great for taking day trips to explore the beautiful Basque country. This is an absolutely beautiful place in the world. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it for family and friends wishing to stay in a large comfortable home with 6 bedrooms. Our party was 9 adults and the house offered many spacious public rooms, including a beautiful dining room, library, eat-in kitchen and several private sitting and patio areas. There is also a wonderful walking path bordering the house that takes you in both directions to fun excursions in the picturesque town of Oiartzun. It was very easy to fully enjoy ourselves. We would love to stay here again the next time we visit!

We felt like royalty!

From the very first moment when Joxe met us as we drove up we knew we were going to enjoy our time in his beautiful villa. We are a three generational family with an age range of 11 to 84 years. There was plenty of space for all to enjoy this well appointed home with its fine woodwork, cozy reading areas, lovely outdoor area and lawn and a kitchen that would delight anyone wishing to prepare a simple snack or cook a gourmet dinner. It is located in a peaceful neighborhood with a fantastic supermarket a short drive away. I would advise taking the bus at the nearby stop to visit San Sebastián if going in high season or a weekend. Our only frustration visiting this part of Spain was the parking. The location is ideal for visiting the beaches where our family enjoyed surfing, swimming and boogie boarding. The nearby towns are lovely with their narrow, winding streets and frequent pintxos restaurants. We enjoyed our visits to Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum. After seeing Picasso's Guernica in Madrid we wanted to drive to Guernica to see the town that inspired his painting. The Peace Museum vividly describes the 1937 bombing. Being located near a walking/biking path was ideal, and various family members took advantage of the house bikes to ride on the trail. Some also rented bikes in San Sebastián. We enjoyed short walks and hikes and our grandchildren swam in the nearby community swimming pool. Our only regret was that we wished we could have stayed longer in this attractive, comfortable home.
