William, we hope this message finds you well. Thank you for your review and the opportunity to respond. As to hidden fees: Any fee that is additional from our end is clearly stated in the listing. Required cleaning fees, pet fees, and additional guest fees are all visible prior to booking. VRBO service fees, state and local taxes are understood to be applied, as they would be for any hotel and motel booking. No hidden charges/fees prior to accepting the booking charges. However, additional charges could include excess cleaning and damage fees, which are also clearly stated in the listing, following a check-out assessment. Unfortunately, there are occasions of guest/pet accidents and it is necessary to remedy the situation as quickly as possible, as was the case in this instance. A carpet cleaning fee was charged for a pet accident you agree occurred, and was evident during the check-out assessment. These are our personal homes, providing a space for our guests and their pets. While we do love providing a place for guests with pets, we don’t enjoy having to cleanup/repair after them. We value all our guests and their pets, and believe each deserves to have as clean and damage free experience as the previous guest, and appreciate responsible pet owners. As to your inquiry: Your booking was accepted instantly. Address information becomes available upon payment and access info is provided automatically 3 days prior to check-in. An inquiry appeared in your name asking for the address and check-in info. It appeared to be fraudulent being that it was an “inquiry”, as though it was a new and separate account. As it appeared as an inquiry, it was considered as suspicious, thus the reply given, “when you book, then we’ll talk”. As it was, it was necessary to determine why you weren’t seeing the information needed and why it appeared as an inquiry rather than as guest messaging. We strive to avert scamming. Had you accessed your initial booking account, all that information would have been available to you immediately, as explained to you by VRBO support. Respectfully, Dara

Colleen, Thank you for your review. I’m so sorry for your misinterpretation of infringement and late check out. Infringement would only be if prior arrangements had not been agreed upon. A late check out, typically means a couple hours, noon or maybe 1:00 pm. After 6:00 pm is considered a full day. All ‘possible’ extra fees are posted on the house rules section in the listing prior to booking, no surprise fees after check in. A damage deposit is required of everyone thru VRBO. Only in the event that there is damage is it ever used. Best wishes on future bookings.

Thank you for your review Amanda. Yes, our entire state has had a 100 year record breaking amount of snow fall this year. Many homes are experiencing some type of water in basements and some full flooding situations. The laundry room is in the basement and accommodations were made to access the laundry room without having to deal with any of the small amount of water on the floor. However, you did forget to mention having 2 large shedding dogs on your trip and to check the clearly marked box requiring pet fees. Rather a harsh review for someone less than honest. Perhaps a motel is more suitable for your travels.
