Overall, our stay was ok. The condo and location were great (that kind of goes without saying).I'll start from when we first arrived after having this booking for a couple of weeks ahead of time. We unload our vehicle and are anticipating to have a parking spot in the garage (on a lift) as stated on the listing and all of the check in materials. We were left with no information on how to operate the lift, nor given the code to be able to operate it. After calling the office for help, they stated they were sending someone out to give a tutorial and provide the code. 2 hours of standing in the driveway waiting for said person to show up, I receive a text stating that "someone showed up and because no one was home they had to come back at a later time and to feel free to find a spot on the street to park." - This was a Saturday night and the streets were packed. Once we were settled in we found two separate seating areas that had (what looked to be) buggers smeared on the wall - we then avoided these areas. On day two the people above us left so the cleaning crew went in to clean the above unit. This led to the washing of the front glass. Dirty, soap water was spilling over to our patio below as we were in the hot tub and seated on the patio. I've tried countless times to communicate with management and see if there was a way for them to help rectify our experiences, also to have a conversation even before me posting a negative review but still have heard nothing back.

Great time!

Visited here for a family vacation and had a great time! Maybe a 3 min drive to the beach and a 5 min walk. Very close to the pier! Had an issue getting into the room but the property manager responded within seconds. Overall great time!

Home away from home

What we loved most about staying in a house/condo, as opposed to a hotel room, was the freedom we all had to be in our own rooms, sleep & wake up whenever we wanted without disturbing any family members, and having a place where the kiddos could play outside while we watched them. This place was impressive! We were very lucky to be on the bottom floor - which is something I should have investigated better - because kids running around would have disturbed renters below, if we had been on any floor above. The amenities that came with the bottom floor were amazing! We loved the hot tub, fire pit, and immediate access to the sand, where the kids loved to play! The only issue was the tricky parking situation with the elevator cage. Everyone seems to have the same problem with it. My son had to have several people guide him into the cage because the car mirrors had to be closed for the car to fit, making it difficult to navigate backing in. Our rental car was so long, it almost didn't fit! Needless to say, we didn't drive anywhere until the last night. We found parking on the street so we didn't have to deal with it again. Other than that, everything we needed was provided! We truly felt like it was our home away from home, and we would definitely rent here again! :) I have also referred several of my friends to this property.

Great location

+ clean, excellent view, walking distance to the beach, staff was friendly and easy to communicate with, relaxing hot tub, convenient store and restaurants close by - no privacy with neighbors above and beside you, beach access is right through your back patio, phone reception very poor, unable to use baby monitor through the walls, 1 car parking only (although easy to find parking on the street)

Good location.

Very nice condo with plenty of room. The pier is about a mile walk. There is a small market a couple blocks away. We walked to restaurants by the pier and on the main drag. It’s a short walk to the beach.

Oceanfront Bliss

This property is gorgeous and very enjoyable. It was so exciting to have a front row seat to the ocean waves crashing against the rocks. Our bed was super comfortable with nice bedding. The hot tub, propane heater and bbq worked well. There aren't a lot of stores and restaurants nearby, but they do deliver. No food (coffee) in the unit except for spices. For the first couple of days, we had no internet, but when we were finally able to contact the management company, they repaired. The garage parking for this unit is tricky and complicated. It is a cage/lift that goes underground. We had to call the management company to instruct us how to work it. I suggested that they develop a video to send to guests, pre-arrival.

Great home with minor issues

Overall the experience was incredible. Location was great and cleanliness of home was immaculate! We had 7 people staying in the 3 bedroom however one bedrooms bed frame was missing a few slates causing an uncomfortable sleep. We had to move the mattress to the floor. The following night instead of using the room we used the side sleeping areas in the hallway. For the price of the rental we would hope to use the bedrooms properly. I submitted a request using the VRBO app and never heard back. Other than the bad sleeping arrangements and sore backs the home was a great place to stay .

Mixed feelings

I wanted to love every moment of this trip and I tried to stay positive the whole time. With that said the hot water expansion tank busted at 4 AM and flooded our condo. I’m thankful my husband is a plumber because he was able to find the leak and turn the water off. It took maintenance 2 hours to get there. Being up at 4 AM on my vacation really killed one of my vacation days. The hot tub had a leak in it. Maintenance came out and there was nothing they could do. It also really didn’t get hot enough. We followed the instructions and kept the top on but it still wasn’t the best. Our unit came with a parking lift for our parking spot. our car rental barely fit! Besides all of that the unit was great, it had everything we needed lots of space, perfect location but the price we paid I expected more or some type of compensation for the flood and the leaking “hot” tub.

There is NO CENTRAL A/C.

We rented this property for a babymoon during COVID times with our 2 dogs. I asked the owner and then the management company 3x in total if there was A/C and they said yes. Prior to checking in I requested the A/C be turned on before we got there and they said that would not be a problem. Needless to say the management company had to send someone there to tell me there was no central A/C, only 2 rooms carry individual A/C units. This is false advertisement of this rental property as one of the biggest reasons we got it was because it said it had A/C. This makes it very uncomfortable as we went during one of San Diego's hottest weeks. You would be ok if you went any other time than the summer. It is very accessible to the beach and pretty pet friendly. Very spacious and pretty, could fit 2 families. However, I am not sure if it was just the weekend we were there but there were many 20 year old parties going in the neighbors houses, hearing "shots" at 1am is not what I expected. The power ended up turning off both nights we were there. The owner obviously was not in control of that, however he did not answer the phone and only texted us that it was not under his control could not even bother to give us an update from SD&G (I had to call them myself multiple times). The fire alarms were going off non-stop and that is what we needed help with (we unplugged them ourselves). Then the morning of check out we still did not have power and because you have to park your car underground with a lift that uses electricity we could not get our car out. I needed to get out of there and had my husband take an uber home and pick me up with our other car and we had to leave our car in the building trapped along with other stuff that we could not fit in our smaller car. The management property was not really accommodating and even though we had gone through a really rough night demanded I pick up my car before 2 pm and was not really accommodating to my request of having the cleaning crew wait outside while I pick up my stuff so I don't get exposed to a bunch of people. This was not the vacation I envisioned and while a lot had to do with the power being off I felt like I was mislead in terms of what this property offered (central A/C) and a management company that has a good communication with the client. Will never be renting this property again or any other property that is managed by Beach Front Only Oceanside Vacation Rentals.

A Fully EXPENSIVE Day Lost

I will start with the positive: 1) the staff we interacted with were incredibly hard working and friendly. Kudos to them! 2) The house was right on the beach in a great location. Now for the laundry list of negatives. When you charge guests this much $, you need to be on point. Management fell incredibly short on day one. With check in at 4pm, you're paying a full day anyway and to have so many issues, it was disheartening. 1) Parking: Our spot was a car lift in the garage. I was not provided a code in the 50 thousand emails you get before you arrival. I called the office and someone said they had to come and show me how to use it and would not give me the code. They said they'd send someone out, but no one showed up. Called again the next morning, and they finally came out in the afternoon (insert: had to wait around with no ETA until minutes prior to arrival). Neighbor who shared the garage needed to leave and couldn't b/c I was parked behind him. 2) Air Conditioning: The TITLE of this property intentionally says A/C. Small print (which I read) says you need to request portable units. Days prior to my arrival, I sent several emails without a response and when I finally received one it stated,they have portable A/C units but couldn't guarantee it. I asked for 4 portable units (living room and the three bedrooms). Upon check in to the house, there were only 2 there (in bedroom 1 and 2 but not bedroom 3 or the living room). This is actually false representation and dishonest. To say in the TITLE of the house posting "A/C" knowing it would entice people to stay there and to then state that you may/may not have enough enough portable units and then to ACTUALLY fall short of providing A/C in all rooms is a false information of a material fact/statement in the listing. 3) Lights in Bedroom 1: Night one, the bedroom light would not turn off causing my friend to sleep in my bedroom b/c bedroom 3 didn't have an A/C unit. And no, it was not user error. A technician came out the following day and had to repair the light. 4) Hot tub didn't work: Night one, we wanted to jump in the hot tub. It didn't work. This was also NOT a user error. A technician came out the next day and had to reset the power. There were a few more issues but apparently I've maxed out the # of characters. I will be addressing this with BFO directly.

Great location / okay property

Location is fantastic. Small terrace directly overlooking the ocean is great, although not much privacy. Everything is working fine but overall quality of house and equipment is just okay - I would expect a bit higher quality for this price. The car lift needs some more explanation to operate, and even then parking in the street is a lot easier (very narrow space in lift and takes quite some time to operate). Property manager was very responsive. Be aware that after paying through VRBO you will receive a further contract with conditions on pets, occupants, parties etc. I would have appreciated to have that information upfront before paying.

Right on the beach.

We had some issues with the property. Hot tub leaked and had to be replaced, the TV quit and had to be replaced and the front door lock/and or code didn’t work. The staff was very responsive and came out to change the hot tub and TV. We never said anything about the front door lock because we used the back door. Also, oven numbers don’t work. Couldn’t adjust oven temp. Location was ok but not good for kids as there is no beach. No phone service for AT&T users. Had to go outside to make calls. Nice place to stay.

Beautiful beachfront

This was exactly as described. Wish there was a beach in front of the house, but a lovely walk towards the pier and you find a great beach. We had a group of 10, one more bedroom would have been perfect...but overall great house. 1. small issue the front door didn’t open with code, maintenance had to come and pry it open the first time after that we just used the beach front sliding door. Would for sure come back!! Check out was great, no cleaning, just walk out...perfect experience.

Family Beach Weekend

The check in process was a little confusing. Code to garage wasn't working, there was a maintenance man there and he pushed the door open manually (he didn't speak very good english). Showed us where to park and left. Later found out, that was the wrong spot. Wireless router/modem was not working so I never received phone calls. With this problem, was speedy to use mobile data for music. Another maintenance man came to the door and asked if problem with wifi, he stated he was going to restart the modem and never returned. One of our family members rebooted our router and we got Wifi (2 am). Very spacious, not super clean (dishes in cupboard still had food on them), comfortable beds, nice showers, beautiful VIEWS!!!
