Our stay at 1 Wilmington Beach was a “mixed bag.” On the positive side, it’s a short walk to the beach. The kids enjoyed fishing and kayaking in the canal, although there are some loose boards that need to be fixed. There are comfortable lounge chairs in the living room. While the house was clean overall, the carpets need heavy cleaning or replacement. When we arrived, we found the smoke detector on the kitchen counter. No big deal, we replaced the battery and rehung it. We could not use the light over the dining table because it had incorrect bulbs for a dimmer controlled light. The shower in one of the bathrooms was so clogged it could not be used at all during our stay. The ice maker did not work even when we reset it. Exhaust fans in 2 bathrooms do not work. The blinds (or what’s left them)in the master bedroom that cover the sliding door do not work. We had to hang a blanket over the door for privacy and to help keep out the light. We had back-and-forth communications with the owner starting the evening we arrived and informed him of the issues. He apparently contacted the maintenance person but they never showed up. We let owner know and he said: that’s strange…the maintenance person is usually reliable. We never heard back about this. I messaged the owner about checkout, he responded, but did not address that the maintenance issues were not fixed. House needs some attention and owner should be more communicative and find a maintenance person who will follow through.
