Amazing stay

Home from Home

Perfectly situated 15 minutes drive from the airport but seldom inconvenienced by aircraft. It is generally quiet and tranquil. Well presented property with two bedrooms, one with a double, the other with twin beds. The double bedroom has a safe in it. The living area is open plan with a large kitchen, fully equipped including a washing machine and dishwasher. Nice dining area and a lounge with 2 very large sofa's and coloured flatscreen TV and Bajan equivalent of freeview. A large bathroom with multi facetted shower. A terrace leading to a nice size swimming pool. In the mornings there is a beautiful view over the sea to see the sunrise, albeit, about 6am!!! While we were there, Chris the owner was on site. The perfect host and, along with his sister Izzy, nothing was too much trouble. The roads leading to the apartment/villa, like many Bajan roads needs a lot to be desired and very bumpy. A car is advised and something with decent suspension advised lol!!! The apartment is conveniently located to beaches at Crane, Miami and Rockley, all within 20 minutes. A garage with food shopping is within 5 minutes driving and 10/15 minutes is Emerald City for main shopping. Would we stay here if we return. Quite simply YES.

Overall it is a nice property a few minor repairs needed but good Outside of their control the location led to dogs barking even at 2 am...not what we were looking for also a car is advised....and the owner did tell us that....I wish them well

Review of the Stay

When we first arrived to the property, the windows in the middle floor were broken. On the first night and thereafter, the bed in the rightmost bedroom was broken and it caused back problems for my partner and I. When we asked to repair the bed, we were accused of causing damage to the bed when, in fact, it was already broken on the right side and the frame was leaning, causing me to fall out of the bed every night. When the property repair man came to check out the bed, all he did was put a cinder block underneath the bed to keep it stable. This did not help with the back issues at all and nobody came to check on it after. This was extremely inconvenient for a family that came to enjoy Barbados for the first time. The pictures were misconceiving and the floors were extremely dirty, requiring us to cover our feet when in the house. My partner found a centipede in her shoe one night as well, spiking fear within us because we heard how poisonous they can be. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with how we were cared for during the stay and by how unclean the property was. After all of this fiasco, we were even charged a service charge: even though we followed all of the instructions on turning the A/C off, locking the doors, and following all of our instructions. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

A wonderful home away from home, but with an amazing ocean view!

My partner and I booked Ocean City for a two month working vacation and we ended up staying 3.5 months due to Canadian flight cancellations due to the pandemic. Owner Chris was kind enough to upgrade the WIFI to suit our business needs. The apartment is just like the photos; spacious, modern. comfortable and pristine clean. The kitchen was well equipped and Chris loaned us a BBQ, cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrella and snorkeling equipment so we were good to go! The main floor apartment sits high on a cliff about 100 feet from the cliff's edge with an unobstructed view across an empty field. It was amazing to watch the sunrise while drinking coffee, or have a cocktail watching the ocean waves. or the stars at night from the lovely patio. This suburban, oceanside neighborhood is clean and safe feeling. There is always a strong breeze so we never felt the need to use the AC. We took daily walks and enjoyed the intermittent, undeveloped lots with cows and goats grazing., or waving to the very friendly neighbors. We could walk to two restaurants (Marco Polo and Cutters) in thirty minutes, to the local Trimart grocer in 20 minutes and to Maggie's vegetable stand in 10 minutes. There are several local rum shops (mini pubs attached to homes) but they were closed due to the pandemic. Foul Bay Beach (not for swimming) is a 20 minute walk via local roads and neighbors' welcoming side yards, or a bit longer by the main road. Crane beach (swimming with caution) is about a 10 minute drive. Chris was an amazing host! Any need was answered immediately! Chris' sister Izzy lives nearby and she was incredibly helpful with directions, advice, news updates (re Covid 19 restrictions) and even arranged for fresh coconuts from a tree on the property to be harvested and cut open for us by Ricky (who handles maintenance issues). Izzy also chauffered us to a celebratory dinner on the west coast one evening. We rented a car for our stay as most places we wanted to visit were driving distance. If you are looking for a cozy, quiet, safe, spacious reliable place to stay, with an amazing ocean view, Ocean City is it!

Very well done and peaceful

Everything was great at Ocean City. Chris the Owner was there to meet us and was great to work with from start to finish. He was extremely prompt with all answers to questions before we arrived and was very helpful with ideas on where to visit and eat etc. Ocean City is very quiet but not too far from activities. It was a perfect place for a peaceful holiday. Really could not have asked for more. Crane beach very close if you want to be in a beach setting with amenities. Be sure and visit Andrew at “The Office”, an open air bar under a tree at the top of the steps leading off of the beach to the north. Foul Bay very close with nobody there if privacy is what you want.

Beautiful and relaxing location

We arrived to this property after a three night stay at an all inclusive. What an amazing location and the peace and quiet we wanted so badly. The neighborhood was safe, quiet, and a great place to walk in the morning. The home had everything to make the stay enjoyable. The owners sister met us at the home and offered to drive us if we were interested. We did rent a car and like exploring so we never took her up on the offer. She suggested several restaurants and we tried two which were both fantastic!! Marco Polo and L’Azure at The Crane Resort. There is a beach 5 minutes away with ample parking and met very nice locals there. Chris is fast on answering questions and understanding with our travel concerns. Wonderful host!

Sunny, Peaceful Stay in Ocean City

The apartment is well furnished and has all the amenities needed for an enjoyable stay. It truly was our Home Away from Home and it allowed us to settle quickly into the Bajan Vibe. It is on a quiet street and has a lovely porch where we sat and enjoyed the views of the Atlantic Ocean. The photos in the listing give a very accurate impression of what to expect and everything about the apartment was as promised. The owner, Chris, was very prompt in responding to our questions and confirming our booking. A car is a necessity and we chose not to drive ourselves, and hired Chris' sister, Izzy, as our chauffeur. This was absolutely the best decision for us since Izzy was not only as a driver, but she was also a tour guide, who carefully planned our an itinerary to suit our needs and interests. We give our unqualified recommendation to both the apartment and to Izzy for anyone looking to soak up the sun, relax and come home rested and refreshed.

Very nice well equipped apt. in quiet neighbourhood.

The apartment is well equipped, and tastefully designed. Very quiet neighbourhood away from all the tourist hustle & bustle. In my opinion car is necessary. Close to many fine restaurants, and secluded beaches. If you are looking for a laid back out of the way place to stay on the island, but still close to many fine establishments, this apt. is very nice option. A+++

The property is on the quiet side of the island, which enabled us to see the real Barbados.

Throughout our stay, Izzy helped us with everything. She took us to Bridgetown to watch the cricket and was always reliable, often arriving 20 mins before our intended departur.e. We decided not to hire a car and used Izzy’s taxi service instead, which was very reasonable, particularly as there were three of us. The villa was excellent and exactly as described on the HomeAway site. It is possible to walk to nearby shops and restaurants but the roads are not well lit and some people may feel they are too far. However, this did not impact on our trip as Izzy was always available to take us to the tourist spots of Barbados, often waiting to take us home after a few beers. Chris is excellent at keeping in touch by email and we actually met him at the villa before his return to the snow in England. Overall, an excellent family run property, which gave us the opportunity to experience the beautiful sights of a fantastic island, despite the dismal performance of England on the cricket field!

Beautiful apartment, great views, quiet neighborhood

This is my 2nd time to visit Barbados - both times I have stayed on the East Coast. I love the quiet, low key vibe on this side. Chris' apartment is fantastic! Has everything you need and very nice, updated accommodations! Ricardo was very thorough to explain everything when we arrived. We had a great week and look forward to another booking in the near future! Since this apartment is on the East Coast, a car is a must. We spent each day at a different beach - mostly on the West Coast. Some of our favorites included: Pebbles Beach - just south of Browns Beach and away from cruise ship tourists. Park at the Surf Shop, buy a 1-day membership ($20 usd) to use the chairs/umbrella & wifi. There is a restaurant above the shop or you can stop by Cuz's Fish Stand in the parking lot for an amazing fish cutter. Holetown - park behind the post office and make your way out to the Surfside restaurant. You can rent chairs/umbrella. Surfside has free wifi. The restaurant is a popular gathering place and has a great menu. Miami Beach - great beach where locals go. Rent chairs/umbrella and enjoy lunch from the permanent food truck. Miami beach has lots of huge trees behind the beach with hammocks to relax in if you want to get out of the sun. Dover Beach - park at Johnny Cools Bar, rent chairs/umbrella and enjoy lunch at the bar. Crane Beach - just 5 minutes from the apartment. Absolutely beautiful beach and views! You can eat at The Crane (on the beach or in the restaurants within the resort). Views of the ocean from the resort are amazing! If you're looking for an adventure, head up the East Coast and visit Bottom Bay, Bath Beach and Bathsheba. Also, Foul Bay is only a few minutes from the apartment. There are no chairs/umbrellas to rent at these locations but they are unique and beautiful. Thanks, Chris, for letting us stay at your apartment - look forward to returning!

View from our porch overlooked the Atlantic. Sunrises were spectacular. Area was a quiet neighborhood. Restful. We used Izzy as a driver. She was prompt and fun. We enjoyed the beaches on the east coast and the west coast. We had a great experience. Apartment was beautiful.

Relaxing and Quiet Vacation in Ocean City

We spent eight nights in Chris’ Ocean view apartment and had a wonderful time. I booked the apartment last fall and Chris has been more than helpful in answering any questions I had as I was planning our trip. Most of the time he replied within a couple of hours!! The apartment had everything we needed and was very comfortable. There were adequate dishes and pans to cook meals and we ate in the majority of our meals. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai and enjoying the breeze and salt mist from the ocean waves. We had a late night flight in and Ricardo was so kind to meet us at the airport and we followed him to the apartment in our rental car, which was helpful because I’m not certain we would have found our way in the dark. Ricardo was ready to assist with whatever needs we had. He booked us on a sunset catamaran sail as well as a half day snorkel/lunch sail. We enjoyed both of these immensely. The apartment is situated off from all the busy action of the city, but that worked for us as we like things a little more quiet. If you are driving, make sure your Google Maps app is up and running. Driving in Barbados is a challenge with roads and roundabouts going every which way. There were beach chairs that we used when we drove down to nearly Foul Beach and plenty of towels and beach towels. There is a nice supermarket with a liquor store close by. Be sure to try the local Banks beer. We rented our car from Drive-A-Matic and the service was incredible. We had a flat tire and dead battery and they were at the apartment in record speed both times to repair our car. Just a few small items to bring: Salt, Pepper, laundry soap and a couple of dishwasher tablets. I highly recommend Chris’ apartment for your next vacation to beautiful Barbados.

Amazing cliff-top property

This is an amazing part of the island and a great and safe neighborhood. Close enough to amazing calm beaches on the west and the gateway to incredible beaches on the east. This is a great place to start every day to explore the island. Ricky and Chris have a well oiled operation and are responsive when you need it. The layout and view were perfectly suited for our family (2 children 4 & 8). The kitchen is great for some home cooked meals and you are a 5 min drive away from the Crane hotel and beach for amazing dinners overlooking Crane beach. So much to do and Chris and Ricky will help with anything you need on the island. I highly recommend this area and Chris' apartment.
