I wish I could give 4.5 stars, because the townhouse is amazing. The space was perfect for our large group of 6 adults and 5 kids. There is a double room on the first floor with its own full bath across the hall, great living space on the second floor with a nice kitchen and half bath, a king master suite on the third floor with a huge bath, a room with pyramid bunk bed (single on top, double below) and a room with a regular bunk also on the third floor (these rooms share a hall bath), and a double master suite on the fourth floor with a full bath. The house is in great shape, perfectly decorated for a vacation home, and very clean. It's in a beautiful development on Sunset Island, located on a canal with views of the bay. There are two small beaches on the island and a huge pool (indoor and outdoor) with waiter service, and it's generally a nice place for a walk. It's a two minute drive/ten minute walk to the Oceanside beach at 67th St.
And now to the annoyances that kept me from giving it five stars.
The nightly rate quoted on VRBO is misleading. There are several additional fees, in our case totaling hundreds of extra dollars for just a three night stay. They do give you that info before you sign the contract, of course, but just be ready for a little sticker shock.
They won't accept credit cards for the balance, and they don't send you a reminder that the balance is due a month out.
You have to bring all linens: sheets, bath towels, beach towels, hand towels, washcloths. This adds a lot of bulk to your packing. Also, there was not a shred of toilet paper when we arrived, which was an unpleasant surprise after a long drive. Bring that too.
The property comes with only 6 pool passes, which was annoying for a group of 11.
And one last minor thing... there was only one very small frying pan, not at all adequate for a large family.
