  • This duplex is located on a safe, charming street 2 blocks from Lake Merritt, and 10 minutes to Bart, Oakland Museum of California and all the shops on Grand Ave and Lakeshore (Safeway, Trader Joes, CVS, Peets, and many more). Visit the Oakland Spice Shop and cook in our fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances or step outside to all the amazing restaurants that surround the lake. Walk to Bart or rent a FORD GOBIKE or Scooter (LIME & BIRD) available throughout the lake. Off street parking is available for your rental or pick up Zip Car from several locations around the lake. Bosch washer/dryer available in the unit with baby-clean feature.

    This unit is on a second floor so there are 16 stairs to a private flat. All dark bamboo floors with wonderful space rugs throughout. Wine fridge available for the perfect temperature next to a build-in desk for all those working in or attending conferences in SF, Oakland or vacationing.

    Sunny-Bright Master bedroom features a queen size bed and ELFA closet system for your extended stay. second bedroom has a twin bed and trundle, perfect for one adult/child or extend the trundle to fit 2 adults or kids. Remodeled bathroom with marble floors.

Great location for Oakland visit to see my son. Loved the uniqueness of Carlos’ place. Lovely neighborhood to just walk around in and admiring the care and work people put into their gardens. Close to Lake Merrit and restaurants in the east bay. Took the BART into the city for Chinese New Year parade and a show.

Perfect location

Walking distance to Lake, stores, theaters, downtown and restaurants. Beautifully decorated and clean. Would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful artistic home

Great place to stay. A lot of living space for a family to spread out. Also had designated parking which is a huge bonus if arriving late.

Amazing 5 Days in Oakland

Our stay in Oakland was wonderful! The place is beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable. Location is great. It was walkable and safe. Carlos is easy to communicate with, accommodating and hospitable. We would stay here again in a second.

As always, a great place to stay! Carlos is a wonderful host and his upstairs apartment is comfortable and amazingly decorated and equipped. Love staying here. It is close to our daughter’s apartment which makes it super handy for us when we visit Oakland. Thanks again Carlos!

Lovely California Christmas

We came west to celebrate a family holiday. This place could not have been more perfect. It had the best outfitted kitchen I have ever encountered at a vacation rental. It was comfortable, spacious, tasteful, and convenient. The whole process was seamless.

Would absolutely stay again - great for kids too

Absolutely loved the property. Very cozy, clean, and had all the major amenities one might need. Traveling with a 2 year old, very much appreciated how kid friendly this property was, with a sun/play room, plenty of movies, books, stroller, and more. Walkable to Trader Joes, restaurants, Fairyland (kids theme park), and more. Really enjoyed the stay. No issues.

Excellent Stay

Great place to stay during our visit to our daughter in Oakland. Carlos has decorated the unit nicely. There is plenty of room to spread out. I have bad knees and had no problems with the stairs. Hope to be back.

Best VRBO ever!

My husband and I were in the area visiting relatives. The location was perfect. We would have been satisfied with that as long as the dwelling was adequate. But we were thrilled even as we walked up the porch steps: fragrant blossoms in the lovely landscaped front garden. Excellent taste in style blend with comfort in this gorgeous flat. The natural light brightens everything and the views are stellar- What a backyard! We were sad to leave our beloved relatives-- but just as sad to leave this amazing VRBO

Great Choice

My husband, 16 year-old son and I had a wonderful time at Carlos' place. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. We loved the artwork and the proximity to Lake Merritt. When the smaller bedroom got too hot due to an increase in temperature, we requested a fan and Carlos provided one right way. Communication with him was seamless. We highly recommend this apartment.

Wonderful stay by Lake Merritt!

We needed a place to stay in Oakland for 12 days, and are so glad we found Carlos’s fantastic place. Super cozy, charming and comfortable, it was perfect for us. It’s full of character and personal touches, and feels very much like a home instead of a rental. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was modern and functional, closet was great, kitchen was well supplied and easy to use, and the two different living room spaces really helped us spread out. There is lots of artwork and some funky antiques too. Most of all, Carlos was an amazing host and a true gentleman. Loved the neighborhood too. We’d stay there again in a second!

A home away from home

This was the second time we stayed at this home which may be all you need to know. It's clean with plenty of room to spread out and most of the conveniences one would expect. It's close (walking distance of about a 1/2 mile with a steep return climb) to shopping and dining areas and to public transportation should you choose not to use a car to get around. Carlos and his family are very warm and welcoming, and it was good to know that they were there just in case (but there were no problems, happily). We highly recommend this rental and hope to stay there again when we next visit Oakland.
