Grand hotel gran decepción

Hotel con una limpieza nula. El servicio es lento y se les olvida todo cuando pides alguna cosa. Lejos del centro y siempre tienes que moverte con tuk tuk. Sin calefaccion y tuvimos que pedir un calefactor electrico.

Nice hotel with a great view of the lake

As of date, this is a relatively new hotel with adequate amendities. Rooms were well maintained - good comfy bed; clean bathroom; television, air conditioner and lights were working fine. Staff was polite and provided great service - they even prepared our breakfast in packed boxes on the day we set off at 5am. The hotel is located conveniently by the main road; there is a good Indian restaurant right next to it (worth a visit even though it is a bit pricey).

Overpriced hotel with difficult access to toomd

This hotel has comfortable beds and an ok breakfast but that’s about all it’s got going for it. There are many dodgy stairs to get to reception then a weird ramp for the next level, then even more dodgier stairs from there. Our room was expensive and had a charming view over the neighbours washing and not the lake. We had to ask for a mini bar and soap. Staff are trying hard but just don’t cut it. It’s slso a Muslim run hotel so no alcohol served.

Lovely stay at Galaxy Grand

Nice good new property right on the lake. Rooms are fresh and everything is new. There is no lift. Travellers be wary of many mosquitoes in the room balcony but room remains insulated if you don't open the balcony door. It is due to the weather and presence lake. Also in the restaurant, there are number of flies which Hotel staff could not take care of. Besides this hotel excelled in all other departments.

a big deception!

the only positive thing to say: the staff is pretty friendly and helpful. everything else was just very bad and we were deceived, it was not at all how we expected. it's a new (or renovated?) "hotel" (actually it's more like a guesthouse). but it isn't in a very good condition. when I took my shower, the installation of the shower fell on me! also there are cables in the shower cabine?! the bathroom had an horrible smell that didn't go away. There is a lot of humidity in the hotel room. breakfast is very poor, really not food quality and very little choice. The location isn't very interesting as well. It really isn't a 3* and definitely not worth the price.

New hotel with room for improvement

This was a newly finished hotel but clearly not ready for paying guests. We had to ask three times for towels for the room, and when they did eventually come there was only one set and not two sets so we had to ask again for another set of towels. After a full day out touring the area we were upset to find that the room had not been made up or cleaned and also there was a bad drain smell. Although they apologised for not making up the room we felt they were very inexperienced in the hotel business and didn't know what was expected. As the awful smell could not be sorted they did provide an alternative room and helped us move our things. The staff seemed very young and had little knowledge of the surrounding area or indeed how much a tuk tuk should cost to get into the centre of the town. I am sure in time it will improve but for the time being I wouldn't recommend it. (Don't forget to bring a warm jumper and trousers as being so high up it does get cold especially in the evenings.)

I loved the hotel.

We are proud to be the first Vietnamese couple who stay 2 nights in this hotel. :) It was very new hotel, all the facilities were good. We had a warm welcome by friendly staff. Checking-in is quick & the room was excellent. It is spacious & all new equipments. We had a lake-view room & it is very beautiful seeing the lake with lot of fog like in the heaven. Breakfast & dinner were nice. I loved the ice-cream with fruit & nut for dessert on the 1st evening. Fried rice was beautiful. The receptionist always take care of us & very informative. They answered all the questions we asked, very helpful. In conclusion, this hotel is extremely excellent. Highly recommended for all off my friends & anybody who want to stay in Nuwara Eliya. This is your best choice.

Great stay

Manager was so impressive.We had a great stay in a new hotel.awesome building creations. My mom is a disabled person. The manager(Mohamed) was so adorable. He just became and helped to handle her. front desk staffs are so helpful especially atheef and gawdesh. Breakfast contains so many varieties. Taste and healthy breakfast. The was small issues in our rooms. But they solved the all problems quickly. Rooms were clean and creative. Excellent lake view.Good to see sunrise naturally. I definitely recommend this hotel. Thousand times better than seven stars hotel. I love you this hotel because staffs can understand guests feeling.
