A fantastic base to explore the Loire

The communication with the host before and during the stay was great. The property itself is quite big, comfortable and well equipped. It’s great value for money and set in lovely countryside.

Très sympathique !

Très beau gîte, avec tous les équipements nécessaires.Arrivée indépendante avec une surprise d'accueil très appréciée !Le logement est assez isolé et éloigné des commodités. Mais très au calme et reposant !

Gite très agreable

Le gîte est très joli, très bien situé, au calme, en pleine campagne et permettant de rayonner dans la région pour de belles visites. Un petit bemol toutefois concernant la télévision qui ne capte que les chaînes anglaises, un peu frustrant en pleine période de JO ;-)

Spacious, comfortable cottage with lovely garden

Even better than the pictures! It was much more spacious than we were expecting, really well equipped and a lovely peaceful location. Comfortable beds and sitting area. I loved the garden, nicely planted and lots of different areas to sit in at different times of the day. Plenty of things to do near Saumur, and if you are prepared to travel a bit further in the opposite direction - a whole host of chateau's and gardens to explore.

Wonderful experience!

Well, what a wonderful time we have had in France! We all fell in love with the location and the Ashley/Holloway party thought La Croix was a beautiful home - it really was hard to leave and we will hold the memories of a good time for years. Thank you for your directions, instructions and advice - all were welcome and very useful and we were able to get about with ease and find all we needed. Thank you again for a wonderful week.

Fantastic property

We had a wonderful week in La Croix. Well appointed, rustic charm and comfortable, with everything you need for a great stay. The garden patio is ideal with a couple of friendly horses nearby. I would highly recommend a stay in this property.

Très bon séjour dans une maison spacieuse et propre. Bonne literie, la cuisine est bien équipée. Très bonne communication avec l'hôte. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Prima woning in (te) rustige omgeving

Karakteristieke ruime woning in rustige omgeving op het platteland. Helaas niet veel te beleven in de omgeving (zeker niet voor kinderen). Woning van alles voorzien. Bovenetage wel heel erg warm bij buitentemp boven de 25 graden. Woning schoon opgeleverd (behalve inventaris keuken). Prettige, snelle en adequate communicatie met eigenaar. PS WIFI verbinding te traag/ instabiel om er iets nuttigs mee te kunnen doen.

Comfortable gite

La Croix was a comfortable and cosy gite with a beautiful garden. You can live the love and dedication that went into the restauration of this Gite. The weather wasn’t the best - like in most places in Europe - but the close vicinity of chateaux, towns at the WII made for a great week!

Belle propriété au calme et au milieu des châteaux de la Loire

La maison que Louise et Peter ont rénovée il y a dix ans est située en pleine campagne. Calme et sommeil paisible sont garantis. La maison est spacieuse et bien équipée. Elle est idéalement placée au beau milieu des mille et une merveilles à visiter dans la région (les splendides châteaux, les villes d’art et d’histoire) et aussi très proche des vignobles de Bourgueil, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Chinon etc. Un très beau séjour et une excellente communication avec les propriétaires, très disponibles. Merci.

Fantastic house in a lovely area

We spent a lovely week here at the end of July. We enjoyed walking, cycling, canoeing and paddleboarding as well as visits to Saumur and Chinon. The house is fantastic, very well equipped in a peaceful location. We especially enjoyed the table tennis table and boules in the garden!

Un bon séjour

La maison a été rénovée et est très agréable "à vivre". Sobre, spacieuse, bien chauffée et dotée d'une bonne literie. Située en pleine campagne, on y trouve le silence même elle est en bord de route. Un endroit dépaysant et reposant pour des citadins !

Last minute break

We have just spent a wonderful week in this beautifully renovated cottage. Very spacious and full of character, whilst retaining the charm of the cottage, all modern amenities are at hand. Located in amongst the local fruit farms and forests of the area we loved plotting our destination for the next day, enjoying our aperitif in the garden , watching the sun set. We were never short of somewhere to explore with Chateaux, markets and lovely little towns in abundance,all within very reasonable drive times. Due to work commitments we needed to book somewhere from Friday to Friday and this was no problem, Louise was extremely accommodating and all my communications and concerns were dealt with immediately. We would highly recommend LaCroix, it gave us everything we hoped for and more. Thank you Louise and Peter.

Very nice

Nice clean well equipped house in the countryside. Comfortable except for slightly thin mattress. Owners responded rapidly to any questions.

A fabulous location and well appointed gite. Superb holiday in a tranquil and stunning setting

A brilliant stay made all the more special by sharing it with the hosts and very good friends, Pete & Louise. Their gite is simply stunning; well presented, very well equipped and set in the most idyllic of surroundings within the Loire Valley and within easy reach of the more popular tourist areas. Great holiday - thank you both.

A fortnight in ideal surroundings

The experience we had was more than we expected. Everything in the Gite was there including English TV programmes. The garden was atmospheric with the abundance of lavender which encouraged all manner of bees and butterflies. The weather was exceptional which in the S France broke the temperature record. The surrounding villages were an architectural delight and the wild life include buzzards, hares, turtledoves and badgers. All in all an amazing experience.

Peace and quiet

Lovely house in a beautiful, peaceful location Very well equipped everywhere apart from the garden chairs which were broken so not enough for all 6 of us to sit and eat outside. A brilliant location for visiting chateaux, swimming lakes and wine-tasting at the caves in Saumur. Darren gave really useful information and recommendations for visits in the local area.
