Totally fabulous!

We stayed in this house for two weeks in September, and could not have been more impressed. We have rented many houses over the years, and this one is a stand out, particularly the wonderful landscaping that included a variety of plants and trees (I think we counted 6-7 different varieties of food-bearing trees!). Also of note, which we had never experienced before, was the "self cleaning" nature of the pool which meant there were no bugs floating around or other detritus. Truly remarkable! Vanessa, our host, could not have been more accommodating and provided an abundance of helpful information. Pietro and Guisi were lovely, and around to help, when needed. As there were two different outdoor table locations around the house, providing two splendid views, we ate dinner at home every night, using the outdoor grill. For New Yorkers, this place was paradise!

Amazing host

Vanessa went above and beyond helping us when our flights had been cancelled and rescheduled several times to make sure we got the best out of our trip that was cut short. The house is so peaceful and cozy. The pool and grounds are so lovely and a wonderful place to relax.

Excellent villa

Well restored farmhouse, but relatively small, however you want for little, all quality fittings in the house. The star is the out side space, swimming pool excellent, all problems we had were resolved quickly, even taking away stray dog! The area is not a primary tourist place, more a market garden region, tomato’s especially, locally they seem to an issue with rubbish, as the local council has abandoned collection, but the villa is immaculate.

Perfect house

Serene Sicilian retreat

The house, gardens and pool were fabulous and perfect for a family month away to enjoy a slice of living in Sicily. The communication and assistance provided by Vanessa was brilliant and so helpful and helped us to fully enjoy our stay here. The location set almost the olive and almond groves and overlooking the vines surrounded by fruit trees, herbs and cacti was wonderfully calming and so peaceful. It was great to meet the neighbouring farmer and see the harvesting of the grapes and olives on our doorstep which is so much what this area is about. The fresh produce especially local Pachino tomatoes were wonderful and perfect for staying in cooking a lovely dinner and enjoying with the local Nero D’Avola wine. With the small town only a 5 min drive away for everyday essential groceries and fresh bread and San Lorenzo beach club so close with a superb sandy beach and the beauty of baroque Noto only 20mins away for a late breakfast or leisurely lunch and stroll we couldn’t have wished for a better location. We managed to visit Marzamemi, Capo Passero , Ragusa, Modica, Scicli and Chiaramonte Gulfi all from the house by car and recommend them all especially Ristorante Majore in Chiaramonte Gulfi for a truly authentic Sicilian lunch focussed on local specialty pork. Time flew and we didn’t want to leave!

Sehr schöne Villa in einem Weinanbaugebiet

Sehr schöne Villa, sehr sauber und toll ausgestattet. Wir waren mit 4 Erwachsenen dort. Eltern mit Kindern. Der Schlafplatz der Kinder war nicht geschlossen, für einen Urlaub mit 2 Paaren ungeeignet. Die Kommunikation mit dem Eigentümer war extrem toll. Fußläufig ist wegen der Straßenverhältnisse in der Region nichts zu erreichen. Restaurants, Strände und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind aber in kürzester Zeit mit dem Auto zu erreichen.

Nearly Impossible to leave - perfect and peaceful

Our best summary description of Casa Modesta is "harmonious". It is a lovely house in a delightful garden setting surrounded by olive and almond trees with vines being grown next door. Very peaceful and relaxing. The house's design has been carefully considered and is maintained to a high standard. It is very well equipped, clean and comfortable including outdoor seating. Vanessa is a great host and provided lots of helpful information and advice which meant we got the most out of our local sight-seeing, restaurants etc. The welcome pack and opportunity to purchase a Sicilian supper for your arrival was very welcome, plentiful and to be recommended. We also enjoyed the Fuedo Maccari local wine... you can't get much more local! Casa Modesta more than lives up to its five star rating, we had a very happy stay, and on discovering no-one was coming in immediately after us, had major problems refraining from staying on. We will certainly return.

Ein wunderschönes Haus inmitten der Weinberge in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Strand

Wir haben eine tolle Woche als Familie mit zwei Kindern verbracht. Die Kinder liebten den Pool, die Eltern waren begeistert von der schönen Einrichtung, den renovierten Bädern und der tollen Lage. Innerhalb von 5 Autominuten ist man an einem der familienfreundlichsten Strände von Sizilien. Ausflüge nach Noto und Syrakus. Auch der Fischerort Marzamemi ist für abendliche Restaurants sehr zu empfehlen! Alles ist gut und schnell erreichbar.

Sehr nettes Haus in guter ruhiger Lage

Schönes Haus: es gibt ein Schlafzimmer und zwei Einzelbetten auf der Empore. Ferner verfügt das Haus über zwei Badezimmer, eine Waschküche und ein kleines Wohnzimmer mit integrierter Küche. Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Außenanlage ist sehr schön gestaltet und der Pool toll. Die Lage ist prima: man ist schnell an verschiedenen Stränden, tollen Orten und auch zum Einkaufen ist es nicht weit. Schön auch Marzamemi mit seiner alten Tonnara. Kontakt klappte immer prima und so haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt und den Aufenthalt genossen.

Une superbe adresse en Sicile

Splendide petite maison, entouré d'un jardin magnifique (fleurs et arbres fruitiers). C'est certainement la piscine la plus propre (aucun insecte) que nous ayons vue dans tous nos séjours en Sicile et en Italie. Cet endroit conviendra en particulier aux couples sans enfants (ou avec enfants en bas âge). Les propriétaires sont totalement disponibles et extrêmement attentifs au moindre problème (nous n'en avons eu aucun!). Casa Modesta n'est certainement pas la location la moins chère en Sicile, mais il suffit de passer une heure dans cet endroit magique pour comprendre pourquoi. Si nous devions revenir dans cette région à l'avenir, c'est certainement à la Casa Modesta que nous penserions. Christine & Luc (Bruxelles)

Très bonne semaine

Charmante maison de vacances dans un environnement calme d'oliviers et de vignes. Les extérieurs, piscine et jardin sont très soignés. La maison est très bien équipée. La chambre est très agréable, bonne literie. Vanessa a été parfaite dans sa communication et son organisation à distance et à l'écoute et réactive durant le séjour. La maison était prête et accueillante à notre arrivée. Le chauffage par le sol est efficace et confortable. Bon produit, bonne prestation. Une très bonne semaine de grand repos. Merci. Pour réflexion : nous avons eu quelques jours de pluie, un petit endroit à l'extérieur "protégé" de la pluie m'aurait plu car les températures extérieures et le panorama m'étaient agréables. Nous aurions aimé que vous compreniez notre demande de prise dès lieux le plus tôt possible... nous étions accompagnés d'un bébé de 4mois et souhaitions écourter le temps de transit. Mais 16h30, ca l'a fait. Cordialement.

Beautifully designed character house in unspoilt countryside, peace and good vibes

We loved Casa Modesta. It is set in a flower filled garden, with small lawns, terraces and surrounded by a landscape of olive trees, vineyards, scattered traditional farmhouses and view towards the distant hills above Noto. We forego the local beaches for the lovely swimming pool, peace and quiet - even the neighbouring farmer bashed his olive trees quietly ! There is so much historic interest close by, Noto Antica is worth exploring, atmospheric and hidden away, rambling ruins along the ridge. Vanessa’s detailed info was great, saved time and was very useful - the App for finding bakery etc really good, fresh warm ciabatta even at 5pm! The local wine, red and rose Fuedo Maccari is quite delicious - bought from the roadside ‘cantina’ you can see from the house. Vanessa was very helpful and quick to respond to any queries at the booking stage and whilst we were there. We would love to return.

Extrem schön gepflegte Anlage, sehr privat, sehr tolle Ausstattung - modern - stylisch - design alles top Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin absolut sensationell immer sofort geantwortet, immer super nett und freundlich. In summe ein tolles Haus für Pärchen oder max. 3 bis 4 Personen. Pool super , gepflegt , super größe , auch tiefer Rund um den Pool toll durchdachte Anlage mit chill out sitzende , tolle Beleuchtung Eine Anlage die man ohne Zweifel nur weiterempfehlen kann Top Location CB + CB September 2019

Small beautiful rural cottage with great pool and close to excellent sandy beach club & small town

This is a lovely family owned villa suitable for couples with / without kids. 2 adults 2 kids was fine though if going to bed at different times may have been bit harder as second bedroom is a mezzanine. Beds very comfy, air con very effective. Showers great with no hot water issues. Good storage in bedrooms. The kitchen and bbq facilities all really good. Great washing machine. Pool was lovely and the seating around it plentiful and comfortable. Flies were a nuisance but I guess you get some insects troubling you wherever you are around here. Other little bother on some days was the neighbours generator used for an agricultural function of some sort. Other than that it was tranquil. We’d certainly come back again if we return here. Still have places we didn’t visit and we aborted our walk to cava grande as it was 41 degrees when we got there!

Lovely! Fantastic stay

What a beautiful place to stay. The house was charming and well-stocked and we spent a lot of time in the lovely pool just taking in the surroundings with our two teenagers. Vanessa went above and beyond, booking us reservations with the best views, providing recommendations and always answering any inquiries we had. We also managed to cook our own fresh seafood dinners with shrimp and calamari from the local fishmonger. Trips to the nearby beaches and to Noto capped it all off, but have to admit that just staying at the house was amazing too. We have already recommended to friends and family.

Wunderschönes Haus in idyllischer Traumlage

Es ist ein kleines, aber feines Häuschen in Alleinlage zwischen Olivenbäumen und Weintrauben. Schöner, großer Pool, liebevoll angelegter Garten und top Ausstattung an der es an nichts mangelt. Die Vermieterin war immer ansprechbar und hat tolle Tipps gegeben. Sehr freundlich und familiär. Wunderbarer Strand in der Nähe und sehr sympathisches Städtchen. Etwas ganz Besonderes!

Luxury in a rural setting

This is a superbly modernised, clean and well maintained property, one of the best we have experienced. It has a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by an olive grove and vineyard. Outstanding features of the villa are the modern kitchen and bathroom fittings and the wonderful swimming pool. The owners are very responsive, helpful and keen to ensure the success of your stay, with many tips and insights to help you throughout. The housekeeper is also a great asset, particularly if you can understand some Italian. Altogether, a first class choice and thoroughly recommended.

We had a wonderful 2 weeks here. Beautiful house, pool and gardens.

The house if beautifully designed. We are a family of 5 and the house worked well for us. The kitchen/living area is a bit small for 5 but to be honest it didn’t really matter as we spent the whole time outside. The pool area and gardens are stunning so it was difficult to ever leave but when we did we really enjoyed visiting local towns, beaches and restaurants. Would highly recommend it.
