    Bedroom 2: 2 x Single (3ft) Beds (Flexible Sleeping Only). Economy 7 central heating (£30 per week, £15 per short break November-March), electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Welcome pack. Courtyard with sitting-out area and garden furniture (shared). 12 acre natural unspoilt grounds (shared). 1 dog welcome, to be kept on a lead at all times (sheep country). Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: There is a unfenced river in the grounds, 300 yards away.. Situated close to Newton Stewart, this compact, cosy, holiday cottage with low ceilings provides a base from which to explore Galloway and south-west Scotland, with riverside walks directly form the property. The town offers a good range of shops, pubs and eateries, and has a swimming pool. There are also tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course. Galloway Forest Park is close by, with many beaches and rocky coves to explore. Enjoy cycling and walking routes to suit all levels. Fishing, horse riding and sailing all nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hen hoose it was lovely and clean, very central for what we wanted and only minutes from Newton Stewart there are plenty of places to walk the dog. The cottage was immaculate, well equipped, and very clean, the owners were extremely welcoming. Will definitely revisit. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Great cottage.

Great cottage. Beautiful area with nice small towns to visit when it rains. We enjoyed walking hills and visiting villages. Great break. Would recommend . Owners friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely time in this cosy cottage. The owners were very friendly and even bought us a bottle of wine for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The cottage is dog friendly and was perfect for us, would recommend.

We really enjoyed our weeks holiday here and the location was fabulous for exploring the Galloway forest and further afield. Carol the owner was very welcoming and upon arrival had upgraded us to a larger cottage FOC, which was a very pleasant surprise. Large grounds for the dog to run about on (but kept on a long extension lead as per house rules..rightly so) and lovely views from the Bothy (cottage we were upgraded to) over the river Cree. Would 100% stay there again if we came back to the area in the future.

Very friendly.

Very friendly. Bed very comfortable. Location excellent as were local amenities. Good value for money. My only issues were equipment and cleanliness. Bed linen clean and bathroom clean but general cleanliness around internal bins and windows needed attention. Would have like some cleaning equipment other than hoover. Felt the place was a bit tired and needed a thorough clean and update. Enjoyed myself and would stay again definitely, even without the clean and update.

Great little cottage - only problem is that it is not good for people with mobility issues.

Great little cottage - only problem is that it is not good for people with mobility issues. Stairs up to bedrooms and toilet down stairs makes it hard when you have to go up and down several times a day/night. Facilities were great, but would have been nice to have hand soap- most people bring shower gel- shampoo, but travellers expect soap.
