We thoroughly enjoyed our mini winter break at the Cowshed! Wendy and Mark welcomed us warmly on arrival and ensured that we settled in smoothly. The location of the Cowshed is perfect - pretty and peaceful, and within easy reach of a multitude of spectacular walks. We loved warming up in front of the cosy fire at the end of each day, and we all slept soundly in the comfortable beds. The underfloor heating in the wet room is pure luxury!

Peaceful stay in Dartmoor

Had a lovely few days in this beautiful barn. It was a home from home and had everything i needed. The upstairs room is wonderful for enjoying the scenery and relaxing! Wendy was fabulously helpful in providing directions and i'd gladly comeback!

Pleasant Stay in Dartmoor

Really nice owners, in a really relaxing atmosphere of Dartmoor. We enjoyed it to stay there in the fully equipped old cowshed, modern furniture included. Space was for the four of us more than enough. The position was perfect to get within not a lot of time by car anywhere else in Dartmoor. If we will return to Dartmoor, for sure there again

Beautiful character barn

Really lovely and attentive hosts who were happy to give advice on the local area. Wendy gave our son the opportunity to feed the ducks, which he loved. Really lovely barn…the log fire was so cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the open plan space. It was peaceful and not to far away from day trips out. We loved the area and would definitely look to return!

We loved the Cowshed. It's roomy, yet cozy. The decor is lovely. Wendy is a great host. She provided concise directions and gave great recommendations for sites to see and places to eat. We had everthing we needed! We were always happy to get back to our home away from home. Five stars!

Wonderful holiday home right on Dartmoor.

Great facilities for up to 4 people. Dishwasher, washing machine including tumble dryer - simply everything is available. The road to the apartment itself is an experience in itself. Beautifully situated just outside Moretonhampstead. From there you can quickly reach the moor, Exeter or Torquay by the sea. We'd love to come back.

Schöne Tage im Dartmoor

Diesen Sommer durften wir ein paar sehr schöne Tage in unserer Ferienwohnung verbringen. Der ehemalige Kuhstall ist schön wohnlich eingerichtet. Leider hatten wir mit dem Wetter etwas Pech, so konnten wir den schönen, windgeschützten Innenhof nicht so nutzen, wie wir es gerne getan hätten. Das Ferienhäuschen ist schön gelegen und man kann diverse Tagestouren von dort aus starten. Im Vorfeld hatte Wendy uns einige Anregungen zukommen lassen, die wir gerne angenommen haben. Darüber hinaus stand sie auch gerne mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Unsere Kinder hatten große Freude an den Enten und Hühnern, die auf dem Grundstück leben. Da das Dartmoor ein dünn bewohnter Landstrich ist, ist man grundsätzlich auf sein Fahrzeug angewiesen.

Peaceful Perfection

I can't recommend it enough. Everything about the property was perfect. It was so quiet and peaceful, with no light pollution after dark. I can't remember the last time I'd actually seen starts in the night sky.

The Cowshed

The Cowshed is an exceptionally well-converted and furnished, with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Communication with the owners was easy and we had everything that we needed in the property. We especially enjoyed the balcony and the very spacious bedroom. It is in a beautiful part of Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor but close to the small town of Moretonhampstead and the village of Chagford.

Beautiful, luxurious cottage in stunning surrounds

We had an absolutely amazing time. The cottage was beautiful - well-appointed, equipped with all modern amenities including a well-stocked kitchen. Very spacious and full of light, great outdoor space too. The location was also excellent- close to lots of stunning walks and scenic routes, as well as a walk away from shops, restaurants and bus stops. The hosts Wendy and husband were so kind, welcoming and hospitable, sharing many helpful tips with us about the surrounding area. Would highly recommend!

From Cow Shed to Five Star Luxury

From the moment we arrived in this elegantly converted from building, we felt at home. The standard of the conversion is exceptional. The furnishings are perfect and you have everything you will need for a beautiful quiet holiday in the middle of glorious Devon. The owners live nearby and were extremely welcoming to us. We were able to entertain four extra friends in the beautiful walled garden behind the property for dinner, and our family including our grandchildren were able to visitors. The young grandchildren, in particular, loved visiting the ducks and chickens, and could run around in the very safe paddock. The bathroom and kitchen in a self catering property often leave a lot to be desired – not in this case! The standard of the bathroom was wonderful including underfloor heating and beautifully designed. The one-track lane leading to the property might be a little daunting if you arrive at night time, but we managed it well each day. We can’t wait to come back again, and I would imagine that this would also be a fabulous place for a winter break with its wood burning stove. Highly recommended!
