Cute near cliff walk!
Cute place near the southern part of the Cliff Walk. It is a mile or so from the wharf and restaurants & we did lots of walking, but if you aren't up for lots of walking, then you need a car, or can do lyft. The kitchen has everything you need for coffee, or to cook/reheat food. The bedroom and bath are up stairs, which was fine with us. Everything was clean and comfortable with everything wet needed for a few days. The host Lou was good at communicating, and checking in. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thanks Lou!

Wonderful Stay in a Wonderful Property!
This was our first visit to Newport, R.I. and only about the second time we decided to stay in a vacation rental property using VRBO. So, understandably we were a little apprehension. We could not have been happier or more pleased with every aspect of our stay at Almy Cottage! The property was clean, well-maintained and in an OUTSTANDING location, just a few minutes walking distance to the Cliff Walk and all of the must-see sights in Newport. The owner, Lou, was extremely cordial, accommodating and obviously very interested in making sure all of our questions were answered and that we were comfortable. The property itself was exactly as described and worked out great for my wife and me. The kitchen area was compact and very functional and suited our needs for four nights very well. The upstairs living area was very comfortable and met our every need, as well. I believe one of the best recommendations that anyone can provide is simply that if they had something to do all over again they’d do the exact same thing. Well, thanks to Lou and his impeccably clean and comfortable property, we’d be staying at Almy Cottage again for our next trip to Newport!

Newport Gem
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Newport! The apartment was clean and stocked with everything you need. The location is quiet and close to the cliff walk and mansions. We were able to do a lot of walking. Lou was very helpful in making recommendations for restaurants and points of interest. We had a great time!

This cottage was simply perfect for the two of us. We have everything we needed, the cottage was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts were a delightful and accessible. Perfect home base for Newport stay
What an excellent property- it was the perfect spot to have as home base while in Newport. The accommodations were comfortable, the location was ideal for getting out and about and Lou's beach and food recommendations served us well. Great spot for Jazzfest
We had an amazing 4 days stay in this great spot. It is right by the Marble House, beach, free summer shuttle and the cliff walk. It was also easy to bike to the festival. There is a full kitchen for coffee in the morning or to make a meal or warm up chowder in the evening. We highly recommend a stay here if you can get it.

Newport Getaway
We booked a last minute trip and the hosts were more than accommodating. Very nice people with plenty of local knowledge to offer. The place itself was very clean, easy to get to, and walking distance to the beach, cliff walk, and restaurants ( a little further but the walk is nice.) We will definitely be staying here again!

Walkable cute little place to stay in Newport.
Hosts were excellent gave suggestions of what to see, places to eat and were available for little requests to make the stay comfortable. Queen and futon bed worked for us for two night stay.

Excellent Experience
Loved the stay! I was able to experience Newport as a local instead of as a tourist. The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to the mansions on Bellevue Ave. and an easy several blocks to the start of the Cliff Walk, namely the more natural, rugged part of the walk. Harbor area and Washington Square not far. Lou was a friendly, generous, responsive, informative, and wonderful host. Kitchen was great, as were outdoor grill and picnic table. Sleeping and sitting area isn’t huge, but quite comfortable and enough. Newport is a very special place. I would happily stay here again. Thanks, Lou!

Great location and very cozy
Lou was a great host and the check in process was super easy. The apartment was cozy and had everything you could need. The location is also fantastic. It wasn’t clear to me that this was an apartment above the garage (and not the pictured home) but it was still a great stay. There is also not a table or a desk so if you need to work remotely, I would just plan ahead and bring your own table. I would absolutely stay here again—it was perfect.

Quaint Cottage in Newport, RI
We booked this property on a last minute planned trip to Newport, RI. The cottage is absolutely perfect, clean, and the perfect location in Newport for all the attractions. We were within walking distance to the Cliff Walk, beaches, the mansions, near Ocean Drive to loop around the coastal viewing area. It is also so close to the wharf area and restaurants, Newport Winery, and Sachuest beach and wildlife area. The cottage is quaint and the owners were very kind and helpful on things to do. We hope to visit again soon!

Cozy Cottage
The garden cottage was a perfect little getaway for our family of 3 and our dog. Lou and his wife are the warmest and most accommodating hosts! The cottage has everything you could need with the sweetest welcoming touches, and is just minutes from all the goings-on of downtown Newport.

The space is small, as advertised, but a great value for the area and quite comfortable for the two of us. We loved the free trolley service into and around downtown since parking was limited and costly. The beautiful gardens and off street parking were a major plus. Just a word of caution: there is a small step down into the kitchen which we both tripped on when we first entered. Once you know it’s there, it’s not a problem. We will definitely visit again. Hosts were gracious and accommodating!

Very Quiet, Just a short walk to the Cliff Walk and the Beach
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! There was so much to do and our little getaway was located in a lovely part of Newport. When we arrived there was coffee, cream, tea, chocolate and fresh fruit which was very nice. The place was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were of high quality. The bathroom was good sized with a bathtub and showers with ample very hot water. The upstairs where the bedroom and little sitting area are were very bright and nicely decorated. We left the windows open and listened to the birds serenading us, but they had an air conditioner as well. There was a well landscaped little area in the back with lounge chairs, a picnic table and a gas grill. While we were there we visited many of the amazing restaurants Newport has to offer, meandered down by the waterfront, Drove to Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed the Sailing Museum known as the Herreshoff Marine Museum, went on a boat ride on Gansett Cruises at Bowen’s Wharf, walked to the Cliff Walk and had a fabulous time hiking it, and walked to the beach. The location was very peaceful nestled in gorgeous homes with an easy walk to the Cliff walk and beach. Overall our experience was wonderful! Lou was attentive and we would definitely visit Newport again!

Still one of the best places to stay in Newport!
This was our fifth year staying at Almy Cottage. We love staying there, and we were very happy to return. The cottage has everything you need and is always pristine and inviting upon arrival. We love being able to bring our dog and cats, and they love staying there as much as we do! It is easy to get downtown to enjoy wonderful restaurants, shopping and summer fun in Newport. It is also nice to return back to the cottage where it is quiet and peaceful at the end of the day. We look forward to our visit next year!

Quaint Cottage
This garden cottage was great. Conveniently located near Bellevue Ave, Cliff Walk and beaches made getting around town easy. A bonus was the trolley stop right outside Marble House (a ten minute walk) that got you to most places you'd want to visit. Those rides were my daughters favorite part of the trip. This rental was bright, airy, spotless and incredibly well maintained. Being pet friendly was clutch given that our dog sitter had to cancel last minute. Our little shiba loved running up and down the steps. I would happily stay there again.

quiet, comfortable, convenient for one or two people
I have stayed at the cottage several times over the past few years. It is located in the back yard of a larger house on Coggeshall Ave. The kitchen facilities are on the ground level of the cottage; bed and bath are on the top floor of a slightly steep staircase. In spite of the fact that neighbors are close on two sides of the cottage, it is very quiet but still within walking distance of a very pretty beach, and easy driving or biking distance from restaurants, etc. and the cliff walk in Newport. I appreciate the owner's installation of a window AC several years ago, and new blinds (last year, I think) to keep the light out more effectively. NB there is a skylight directly over the bed which lets in substantial light in the mornings, in case that might affect someone's late sleeping. On the whole, a very nice place to spend time in Newport.

A lovely property conveniently located near everything.
The cottage is located in a wonderfully picturesque neighborhood that is about a 15-20 minute walk to a nice beach and one end of the Cliff Walk. We enjoyed both. It's a short drive to anything you would want to do in Newport and very near a Stop and Shop for your cooking needs. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen were quite spacious. Lou left some toiletries, including essential oil samples, which were a nice touch. We made use of the grill, washer/dryer, and beach umbrella. My friend and I agreed that it couldn't have been a better stay and we were happy to stay away from the busier area near the water so we had some peace and quiet at night. What's nice is that all the hustle and bustle was a short drive away. Thanks for a great and comfortable stay.

The cottage was very clean, bright and had a nice kitchen which was small but more than enough for a vacation unit. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was nice. It was convenient to the beach and Cliffwalk and also to the main areas of town. We look forward to staying there again.

One of the best finds in Newport, especially if you love to travel with your animals!
This was my fourth time staying at the Cottage, and it was another wonderful week in Newport. I always feel at home when I arrive. Everything you need is ready for you and it is spotless. The Cottage is so comfortable and is ideally located to one of my favorite parts of Newport, the Cliff Walk. This visit I learned the trolley system. The stop was only a block away, and the service to downtown was very fast. The ride was very enjoyable as it passed all the beautiful mansions. It's a great way to get around and you don't have to spend time looking for parking downtown. I especially love being able to travel with my dog and cats, and it is such a treat to visit a place where they are truly welcome. The neighborhood is quiet, but friendly and it is a very nice change of pace from NYC. I look forward to my next visit to Newport and I will definitely be staying at the Cottage.

The cottage is in a quiet residential area of Newport. It is a cozy free-standing unit built over a garage for the main house, which is rented by others. The house is comfortable and convenient for one or two people, and has laundry and kitchen facilities. It is an approximately 20-minute walk to a small beach at the end of Coggeshall Ave., where the Cliff Walk ends, and a short drive to downtown Newport and the mansions. The owner is very responsive to questions and concerns. I had a very nice time there.

Lovely Cottage
The cottage was lovely and perfect for our stay! It was pretty close the beach, mansions, and part of the cliff walk. We ended up renting bicycles and riding up to town which we found to be much easier and more beautiful than sitting in traffic or walking in the heat (it takes about 25 min to walk). The cottage itself is very clean and cozy - perfect for two people and their dogs! Would definitely choose to stay here again.
