  • Experience coastal bliss at Hilltop Hideaway, a stunning five-bedroom cliffside retreat in Merewether. The spacious layout comfortably accommodates up to ten guests, featuring two living areas, a modern kitchen, and a large balcony where you can soak in breathtaking views of Newcastle Harbour, the city, and Stockton Beach. Each bedroom is thoughtfully styled with comfortable mattresses and linens, while the home’s sunny deck, outdoor BBQ, and al fresco dining areas provide the perfect setting for creating lasting memories with family and friends.

    Located just 750 metres from the iconic Merewether Ocean Baths, the property offers a prime location for exploring beaches, scenic lookouts, and local attractions. Walk to Hickston Street Lookout for panoramic views, or drive a short distance to The Junction, Merewether Golf Course, and Newcastle’s vibrant entertainment districts. With Wi-Fi, air conditioning in both living areas, and a dedicated workspace, Hilltop Hideaway is ideal for families, groups, or remote work getaways. Please note, due to its elevated position, there are multiple stairs from the street to the entrance, making it unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.

    This property offers self-check-in. Access is provided via a secure lockbox located on-site. One set of keys is provided per booking and you are able to utilise the lockbox during your stay.

    Guests are welcome to use on-site BBQs where provided. All safety guidelines must be followed, including supervising children and ensuring the BBQ is turned off after use. BBQs must be cleaned thoroughly after use; failure to do so will incur additional cleaning charges. Any damage resulting from misuse will be billed to the guest.

    Guest Registration & Verification: All guests must complete electronic guest registration prior to arrival, including valid photo ID (Driver’s Licence or Passport), credit/debit card details, and a list of all guests with current mobile numbers. These documents are securely stored with industry-standard encryption and automatically deleted 14 days after check-out, in line with PCI compliance, and access codes are only issued to registered and verified guests. Any reservation made within 5 days of arrival requires a photo of a credit card in the same full name as the primary guest, matching the provided ID. If the names do not match, the booking will be cancelled and funds returned. This policy is in place to protect our guests, our property owners, and the community.

    Pre-Authorisation / Security Deposit: A security bond or pre-authorisation will be required to cover accidental damage, breakages, or extra cleaning costs. Guests will be notified of the amount and method of payment prior to arrival. Any claims for damages will be documented and communicated clearly.

    Noise & No-Party Policy: All of our properties are located in residential areas and are subject to strict local noise regulations. Noise that can be heard outside the property between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM is strictly prohibited. Parties, events, and large gatherings are not permitted under any circumstances. Breaches of this policy may result in immediate eviction, forfeiture of your bond, and additional charges.

    Complimentary WiFi is provided by the property owner for guest use. As this connection is managed by a third-party provider, AirKeeper cannot guarantee speed or reliability and does not offer compensation for any service interruptions. AirKeeper will provide troubleshooting assistance to guests where possible but cannot be held liable for reception or signal issues beyond our control.

    Linen, Towels & Amenities: Guests receive a full set of bed linen and one bath towel; pool, lake, and beach towels are not provided. Extra towels or linen can be requested 7 days prior, possibly with a charge. A basic bathroom and kitchen starter pack is supplied, but guests should bring additional items as needed for their stay.

    Departure Responsibilities: Upon departure, all properties must be returned in a clean condition. While a general clean is included in your rental, excess cleaning charges will apply for items such as dirty dishes, stained linen, food or drink spills, BBQ cleaning, or rubbish not disposed of in outside bins. If bin night occurs during your stay, please ensure the bins are placed on the curb as instructed in your pre-arrival email; failure to do so may incur tipping fees. Any additional cleaning or disposal charges will be communicated and deducted from your security bond.

    Cancellations made less than 60 days before check-in will forfeit 100% of the booking value.

    Long Stays (28 nights or more): Within 48 hours of booking creation: Full refund.
    After 48 hours of booking creation: No refund of any fees paid.

We stayed at this property for two nights. We had a lovely stay. There are lots of stairs! But with this comes a terrific view! It's so nice to sit out on the balcony and have a drink.Out of the five bedrooms, three were great, one other, the bed was quite small and the last room, the one with the single beds was not comfortable for the girls that slept there. Here is her review.I stayed in the accommodation with some friends, my bedroom was on the lower level and had x2 beds in it. I found there was a strong odour of mould in the room, making it very unpleasant and difficult to sleep. I was also concerned about sleeping in a room that may have an issue with mould. I have fed my concern back to the owner and I’m hoping they do their due diligence and thoroughly check this room for any signs of mould, as the odour certainly indicated that there was mould present.I have reported the issues and have been given a 10%refund. They feel that the issue is dampness, but we are not sure.There are two satisfactory bathrooms and an extra toilet which was great. Lots of seating around the dining and lounge.We had a mini bus and could park this on the driveway.
