Well maintained property at the junction of the Plum Island access and the beach. Access was easy and exactly as directions provided. There is tandem parking for two vehicles, which is great as the public lots get crowded pretty fast in the summer. Unit is upstairs apartment over an ice cream shop right on the beach. George, the proprietor of the shop, is friendly and helpful with suggestions for eating out. The ice cream is really good. The two small convenience stores on island have some basics, but for heavier grocery runs there is a Marketplace and a Shaw's about 4-5 miles away.
Two bedrooms was more than enough space for us to spread out. Bath has been remodeled with a great shower and there is plenty of hot water. Towels provided. Kitchen has two-drawer refrigerator and separate under-counter freezer. Dishwasher works well. There is a European style washer-dryer combination that handles small loads, so we always had fresh towels and did not have to bring huge wardrobes. Coffee maker handles up to 16 cups and there is also a teakettle. No microwave but we did not miss it. Pans are much nicer than typical VRBO properties but do take a little care with hand washing. Plenty of silverware, plates and utensils for our needs.
We didn't use any of the video equipment, but there is TV in the main living room and each bedroom. Living area TV drops into a cabinet so the view is unobstructed out the picture windows.
Outside we had our own private beach/terrace or coiuld walk down to the main beach and ocean a few steps away. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas provided, as well as a grill on the deck with a table that seats four.
We were there just before schools got out, so the crowds were very light. Downtown Newberryport looked inviting but we didn't get back in our car much once we got settled.
