Nice little cabin, overall good, everything was functional. The only comlaint is the mattress on the bed was probably manufactured sometime around the beggining of the jurrasic era. Made sleep all but impossible. Two people roll to the center and sink. Other than that all was good.

Great cabin for the weekend
Was just looking for a quick weekend getaway and this cabin was the perfect destination. The hot tub was great to relax in and the cabin being pet friendly was a HUGE bonus for me.

Winter weekend stay
It was a great stay. I was a little nervous road conditions and getting to the cabin during the winter. But the roads on the cabin property were plowed and salted everyday. That was very much appreciated! It was a very nice, private and cozy! I look forward to coming back in the future!

Lovely, quaint cabin
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was very comfortable, and the hot tub was lovely. It was very quiet, and the location was great if you are looking to really be out in the woods. It was about a 35 minute drive to Cedar Falls, which isn't bad at all. The only thing I would say is to bring an extra blanket, because there is only one provided and it isn't super warm.

Cute cabin but needs many improvements
Nice cozy cabin in the woods with potential if the owner would spend a little to fix the place up. No light when you first walk in as ceiling fan lights are all out. Oven does not work other than upper element so everything gets burnt and there is no light anywhere near the stove. No filters for coffee maker. Thankfully we brought an alternative. Bed is terrible- literally like laying on springs covered by thin fabric. Hot tub was great location but had musty smell. For the price it was very disappointing. I sent a message before we arrived and a week later have never received a response. ☹️

Settlers roost
The cabin we rented was the furthest one back on the property which provided some nice privacy. After hiking all day at hocking hills we enjoyed an evening in the hot tub. The cabin was clean. Linens and towels were provided. The hot tub was great and the back porch was nice to sit on and secluded. It was a short stay so we never used the grill or fire pit but wood and lighter fluid were stocked in the cabin for a reasonable fee. We ate before we arrived but it looks as though they have everything you need if you want to cook yourself, all you have to do is show up! The pictures on VRBO are an accurate description of the cabin. I think the couch was different but otherwise what you see on VRBO is what you’re getting. Mattress is due to be updated. If you’re not from the area, expect to drive 30 minutes if you want to get to the popular hiking spots. There are trails in the national forest nearby but they aren’t the ones of southern ohio people travel from all over to see. 5/5 stars, would book again

This was a very nice place. Clean and neat. The only suggestion I would make to the owner is to have a curved shower rod to give a bit more room while taking a shower. I had a few questions and each time the response was instant!! Would recommend and would stay again.

Place was immaculate in terms of cleanliness. Cooked some great steaks on grill (charcoal grill was a big plus), relaxed in the hot tub and was glad Not to have cell service. WiFi worked really well.

Beautiful little spot
Check in was easy. The place was clean and super cute. Communication with the host was easy and they were accommodating. Hot tub was amazing after a long day of hiking. The only negative I’ll post about is the small couch in front of the tv wasn’t very comfortable and the bed needed an extra blanket for comfort. Other than that, we loved it and would stay there again. Note: a lot of people mentioned it was hard to locate the Colonel sign. We had no issues and the two signs were huge, so hard to miss. The junkyard is a little off putting but it wasn’t really near the colonel park. We seen a few people working on cars, they waved and then went about their business.

Peaceful Cabin
The cabin it self was very nice, very peaceful area. The cabin was very clean, hot tub was nice. The bed and couch were not comfortable at all. We were surprised for as relaxing the location is, a comfy couch and bed would have made it perfect. Loved the wood furniture ! The drive to the cabin was interesting… The Junk Yard and people there are not friendly, kind of gave a deliverance vibe. Glad they were far enough away from them at the cabin The coffee maker does not work at the cabin either. That is a very important feature too! Outside of that it was very nice.

This is the perfect little spot for a “just us” kind of stay. I’m definitely glad we had the extra directions & found it while we still had daylight!! The back deck was perfect for relaxing together. Great secluded Cabin
Great secluded cabin in the Hocking Area! Great place for my girlfriend and I to spend a weekend away. Hot tub was great to end a long day of hiking. Our only complaints were the shower felt a little small, the floors could have been cleaner and the cabin could use a new couch but other than that, no other issues.

We cannot wait to return and use this same cabin. So relaxing we love the long drive to it as well the drive is amazing. The cabin is so darn cute. My own complaint the bed was horrible so we deffinetly will bring a foam pad the next time. Thank you so much we loved this cabin and company.

Cute cabin
The Settler’s Roost cabin was very cute and quaint! We only had a few complaints and that is that in between the couch cushions it was pretty dirty like it hadn’t been cleaned, and the door handle to the bathroom does not work well- so don’t shut it all the way unless you want to get locked in! Otherwise, the cabin was very clean, had everything we needed and it was a relaxing stay!

Property was secluded and private with amazing views. Check in was seamless and property was well maintained. Batteries in all remotes need changed as we were unable to operate any of them. This would be our only complaint and it is minor. Would definitely consider this property again.

Great getaway
Overall was a great get away. The property is located in the national forest so it’s secluded for sure. Cabins as described and expected. We booked a long weekend to escape we didn’t however plan to not have WiFi (there was no cell signal at the cabin) we wanted an escape the issue was with an elderly parent back home I was unreachable only case of an emergency which kept me leaving every few hours just to check in since I knew I didn’t have service…. The WiFi not working also meant minimal tv to just sit and veg…. We wanted a weekend away from hustle n bustle of life and we got it on accident, would have been more relaxing if I knew I was reachable for my mom. Overall great stay great communication with maintenance staff and they were very willing to help, unfortunately it wasn’t resolved for our stay….

Short notice availability is what sold us.
Overall we weren’t sure what we were getting into because we booked the property because of it’s short notice availability, then read some of the reviews. Was pleasantly surprised to find that they corrected many of the complaints that we read about so we really enjoyed our stay. The furniture and bed could be more comfortable, not desirable for a long stay. The directions were confusing because the road that takes you to the property was NOT in the directions finally called and soon got a callback and told what road to look for and then drove right to it. Still a much better value than a Hotel!

Anniversary weekend
We really enjoyed our weekend. Ran into a small issue at check in with a different name being on door, but after calling we were able to get it starightened out. The cabin is super cute and we really needed and wanted the quiet relaxation. The bed could be more comfortable but we managed. Our only suggestion is, instructions on how to use the fireplace....that took a while to figure out that there was a remote on the wall and how to use it. And we found 2 dog bones sticking out from under couch. We know its pet friendly..and maybe it was left on purpose for the next animal staying but to us it makes us feel like the cabin wasnt cleaned thoroughly. We hope to come back again and next time get a bigger cabin and bring our kids. Thanks again!

It was very nice, but could use some updating. Needs a cutting board, more ice trays, cheese grader, some dishes were broken, over all updating of some dishes. Bathroom could have used more towels. Blankets in the cabin, a more comfy bed would be nice possibly a heater for bedroom. Had a smell in rooms when you walked in.

The cabin was in good shape, but could have been cleaner. Lots of old spider webbs throughout the cabin. The fireplace didn't work. Also bear minimum essentials. You'll be on your own when you need assistance. If you are going here for Hocking hills caves and falls. I would suggest a closer venue.

Pleased with the cabin. Just a few minor things we thought would be helpful
We had trouble finding the place because dour GPS said to turn earlier than we were supposed to. TIP: coming from the “trailer park” you won’t see the front of the sign. Coming from the other end if you see a Colonel Quarters sign to turn in the road, there will be two. The second one is where you turn and it’s a string of cabins. So you drive past the first one and keep going until you see the name of your cabin. The location of this one is all the way at the end which we loved and thought was the best location of any of them. I have a 4 for check in because I feel like place could’ve explained or even in the email that it’s a string of cabins etc. cleanliness was pretty good. The main things were clean, shelf’s and stuff were dusty but it wasn’t a big deal to us. I would bring own cooking supplies from the pots to the utensils and ingredients. There are pots and utensils but they aren't the greatest. The hot tub was great but a few jets were out, but other than that was great! We spent a lot of time in it. Love the glider on the back deck. We sat there a few tjmes. Couch and bed aren't the comfiest but it works for a little weekend away. We enjoyed our stay at the cabin and had fun. Only thing is we didn't know how close the other cabins would be from the description. Luckily we got the end cabin because it was the most secluded. I would just reccomend having a checkout list. We weren't sure what to do with the keys, the bedding, trash, etc. So we just left everything how we found it and took the trash with us to throw in a dumpster. Also we were going to wipe everything down but the cleaner bottle was empty.
