Our first impression of Eagles Nest was not good. House smelled horrible as soon as we walked in. Carpets had stains everywhere, upholstery had a stale odour. We decided that maybe the AC had not been on for a while and to give it a chance. The biggest issue besides cleanliness, was the spider-type bugs running all over the range top, counter tops, dining table etc. At first, we ate out but the bugs persisted and we reached our breaking point. How can a smelly, dirty, and bug-infested situation be remedied while we are staying in the house? Owner repeatedly ignored our emails and calls. VRBO also tried to contact owner on our behalf. When we did finally make contact owner gave excuses as to why she could not view the email videos we sent showing the spider-type bugs using the range top as a runway or even respond to us. On the advice of VRBO and common sense we checked out and advised the owner. After we left, the owner admitted that she hired a bug exterminator, carpet cleaner and had outside of house power washed. Owner blamed the condition of the house on previous “dirty renter”. We have not received a refund or anything close to a satisfactory response from the homeowner. Had we seen the recent review posted in December 2022 that mentions bugs, stained carpets, and an unsatisfactory response from the owner back when we committed to rent months ago, we would not have chosen this property. VRBO were very understanding and agreed that we should leave when we did but ultimately, they represent the homeowner not the guest as we know now. RENTER BEWARE.
