My husband and I have stayed at the Sands of Kahana in the past and have always enjoyed our stay. The property has easy beach access and two pools (including a spa and a children’s pool). The beach is a little bit on the smaller side, but it doesn’t generally feel really crowded. The ocean is pretty gentle on this little beach on this side of the island, which is what we prefer. Parking is generally pretty easy, but some of the spots can be on the smaller side. There are tennis courts, smaller gyms in each of the buildings, a restaurant near the beach that has a daily happy hour, and lastly, there are paddleboards, kayaks, etc. that you can rent (as long as wind permits). The elevators can be a little slow.
The penthouse has three separate bedrooms and they all have an ensuite bathroom and a balcony / lanai. The views outside each of the rooms (including the common area) are really gorgeous. Sullivan provides a pretty solid starter kit – each bathroom has about two rolls of toilet paper and hand soap (it might be in the original bottle or in the decorative dispenser), the kitchen had a small bottle of Dawn and two paper towel rolls, and the laundry room contained a small bottle of detergent. While they don’t provide any beach or pool equipment, they do keep any equipment that is in good condition that people leave behind and there was a pretty decent selection. Lastly, there was an A/C unit that kept the place nice and cool.
Would definitely recommend staying here!
