Double Booking

Extremely disappointed with a double booking that was not resolved in a timely manner. On our way, I decided to check in and ask about a key code and was met with the shocking news that the property was already occupied by another guest. The host seemed to have no idea there was a second booking, and claimed I was never charged. However, I was fully charged at the time of booking. The host did communicate consistently and both her and VRBO provided a timely refund. She did offer other units to resolve the issue, but we chose to cancel. Those were not what we had in mind for our trip. I’m still waiting to see if I can get my trip protection refund, since there was apparently never a trip to protect…

A true gem

We chose to stay at the Sea Gem, first and foremost, because it is pet friendly. This was our first visit to Myrtle Beach, and the location was great...right on the beach. Nice balcony to sit in the evening. Unfortunately, there is not a screen so we couldn't leave the doors open to listen the ocean. Fluffy towels! For people with mobility issues: • The floors are tile. No tripping hazard there. • The step-in shower is about a 4" step. • There are no grab bars on either end of the shower. • Getting out of the shower was a little bit difficult since there was nothing to hold on to. • Access to the beach involves stairs. They weren't steep though. Speaking of the shower, the shower curtain bar should be raised to the ceiling so the shower curtain doesn't sit in water. And a grab bar should be installed to make entry and exit safer. Indigo Coastal Grill makes a great breakfast!! We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Gem and would recommend it.

Great spot - perfect location!

Had a great time. The unit itself was clean with nice decor. Fantastic view of the beach. Resort offers a number of amenities and is close to a slew of restaurants, minature golf courses, etc. Communication with the host was quick and easy. Would recommend!

Not pleased

The pictures of this property are beautiful and I feel are misleading. The entire place is so very dark unless you have the curtains open on a sunny day. We experienced many issues during our stay including the cleanliness of the unit and the fact that many things do not work properly or are broken. There were several things left behind including a dirty rag that was thrown onto the shower curtain rod (gross and unsanitary), dishes in the cabinet were not clean, an old used toothbrush was left in the mirror compartment, you could tell the floors weren’t properly swept because there was dirt and debris including an old receipt from the end of June. If this place had been cleaned, these things would have been caught. The shower was also gross and had to be scrubbed before we felt comfortable to take a shower in it. The lamp in the living room is broken, the fridge drawer is broken, and a socket in the bedroom is broken (see the pattern?). The tables in this unit are flimsy, cheap and on their last leg, as is the air conditioner in the living room. This unit cost us a lot of money for just 2 nights and I expected it to be worth it, but felt that it wasn’t. I am disappointed in this listing and will not ever stay in this resort again. I have many things I could say about the resort that doesn’t relate specifically to this unit, but I won’t drag that into it. I also didn’t receive check in instructions until the day of when I had to contact the host and VRBO. I’m not happy.

Disappointed with Property

Bugs, Mosquitoes and fleas. Large dogs on property that were aggressive. However the room was decorated beautifully. I blame Patricia Grand for the Mosquito problem and the large dogs on site. We thought there was a weight limit of 20 lbs for dogs to stay. This was the most expensive room we had paid for any hotel stay in Myrtle Beach and left a night early.
