Love returning to Whalecome Inn

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The entire family loves coming to this house for our annual family reunion. The private pool is a favorite feature, as well as the close location to the beach. Our only request would be new mattresses for some of the rooms.

Second Year in A License to Chill

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the second year we have stayed in a License to Chill. We were excited to see that a second King bed had been added. We would like to see a larger refrigerator in the unit. The location is great and there is ample parking for 6 vehicles. We would recommend this unit to others.

Great Location, Clean House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Went down for bike week. Plenty of parking, clean rooms, great location with a nice pool. Everything was nice until we came back to the house Friday night after being out for 12 hours, and we found that the air conditioner had stopped working sometime during the day. The second floor bedrooms were almost 80 degrees. It was too late to have any body come out to look at the ac unit by the time we got back in. Other than that, we enjoyed the property very much.

Only downside was the grass was very high on Saturday but they came on Monday to cut it. They also check the pool 3 times during the week, which was great. Would go back for sure.

The house is gorgeous, clean, roomy with all the amenities. You can't go wrong in this rental

Disappointing

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was very dirty and needed many updates. The pillows, mattress pads, and comforters were stained and ripped. The yard is very over grown and the pool is full of algae. The homes across the street, known as "the compound" have the police there almost daily. Every local we came across was shocked that the home was rented and we were warned to be careful and keep the doors locked. It was a very disappointing experience for the amount of money you pay for the rental. We rent a minimum of 3 homes with 5-6 bedrooms every year for our family vacation. We will definitely never rent this home again.

Great Week at Beach Despite Issues

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great week at Garden City, but we're somewhat disappointed by the house. It was not in as good a condition as we are used to with GCR. Cleaning could have been more thorough, bed comforters and pillows needed replacement, exterior paint needed work, a large facia board on second balcony was about to fall off the house, and exterior light fixtures also were about to drop off. We reported a water leak that had been reported before but not repaired. The photos on the website were better than the actual house. Some furniture around pool and on porch was broken. The pool walls were brown wwith algae or something and needed more attention than was given by the pool service. Marsh view was awesome and thee pool itself was great - justt the right size and with adequate shade for the entire day.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family of 14 has stayed at this property for the past 6 years. The good news is that we love the location, the pool, the constant breeze, and the view of the marsh from the outside porches. It is our favorite week of the year. The bad news is that the property has deteriorated. One, the refrigerator freezer does not keep ice cream from becoming soft, and the refrigerator door is missing side panels that make two of the shelves unusable - 3-year old issues and previously reported. I recommend that the refrigerator be replaced. Two, there are insufficient lounge chairs on the main porch, and one of the wicker tables on the porch has a broken leg. Three, there were only two reclining chaise lounges by the pool and one was broken. Four, the poolside hose has a substantial leak and needs to be replaced. Five, there was no bedside table next to one of the double beds in the upstairs bedroom facing the marsh - a 5-year problem. This was solved by using one of the main level tv-dinner trays. Six, the mattresses are lumpy, not very comfortable, and need to be replaced. Seven, the dresser in one of the Jack and Jill bedrooms has drawers that come off the tracks - a 3-year old issue. Eight, we found an empty half-gallon bottle of vodka under one of the beds when we were cleaning up on departure day. Every July look forward to our family gathering at Myrtle Beach, but our enthusiasm for License to Chill is certainly not was it once was...

When the pool cleaner found it, he was honest and returned it. This is a great place to stay and I wish we could have stayed longer.

And the walk to the beach was minimal, so that's always a bonus! Everything was very clean and the rental agency folks were helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We found this house a couple years ago and it's a perfect place for our extended family of 14. Every couple (6) has their own space and the common space is ample and situated away from the bedrooms. The pool area is nice and we have most of our meals out by the pool each night. Nice yard for playing games in the evening. And the view of the marsh behind the house is spectacular! We feel like we're the only ones around. Plan to continue coming to this home for our Family Beach Vacation each year!

We were luck enough to get another house because there were 23 of us. During the day everyone was in the house and it was great. Plenty of room and great pool. Our ages ranged from 2 to 79. We would rent this house again. There are two complaints....first there was no grill. It would have been nice to have a grill so we could do hamburgers and hot dogs. Also we never found the beaters for the mixer. We found two mixers but no beaters. Other than that it was perfect.

Cooks were extremely pleased with kitchen and utinsels. Nice neighbors on both sides. AC worked well. I would recommend it for anyone for any week except the one we want next year!!
