The Sanctuary

The house is gorgeous with plenty of room. The media room did not work so, that was disappointing for the kids. It would be helpful to have a binder with info - i.e. passwords, how to set up media room, local restaurants, garbage pick up days, etc. Would also be helpful to have some basic supplies - i.e. garbage bags, glass cleaner, salt/pepper, etc.Overall, wonderful experience! We loved the house and the location!

Disappointed

While the home had incredible amenities, the home is unfortunately not maintained. All of the upholstered furniture throughout the home was filthy and stained. (No one actually wanted to sit on it!) Cabinet doors were falling off and light fixtures weren't cleaned in ages. The location was great and the home had a lot to offer but very disappointed in the cleanliness and overall appearance of the home.

Perfect Beach House

We've stayed here before and loved it. Plenty of room for our family. Hot tub and pool are great. Theater room is awesome. Only thing was this time the cleaning crew didn't do a good job. The floors were dirty. Otherwise i would recommend this house.

Summer Kickoff at The Sanctuary

Our family enjoyed our weeklong stay at The Sanctuary - great location, perfect weather, and plenty of space. We did identify a number of things that need attention and hope they will be addressed to ensure that the next family that vacations there can have an even more enjoyable stay.

Location = A+,

This was the second stay at The Sanctuary for two of us and the first visit definitely enticed us to recruit others to go back. The location of the property is wonderful and well worth it to get away from the crowds. The house is spacious, and overall things are sufficient to get by for a large group. However, this property is at the top end of most rental budgets, and spending 10K - 20K + for a one week rental I would expect a little more attention to detail and to the obvious neglected issues. Upon arrival the bathroom linens were missing. Long story short they were in totes on the entry level and we had to stock the bathrooms ourselves. I reached out to the property manager to notify her and received no response. We also reached out for assistance to with an A/V issue and received no response. We did however receive a response and repair within 24hrs to address a clogged drain previously mentioned in other reviews. The kitchen sink still leaks, the upstairs washer is still broken, and one of the two ovens does not function properly as stated in a previous reviews. The pool refrigerator door is rusted off the hinges, does not work and clearly hasn’t for some time. I’m only mentioning these things as they have been previously mentioned and were still issues during our stay. I would just expect slightly better attention to the amenities and issues for the price. The property is far from a dump, it’s beautiful. Just beware if you are expecting A+ service.

Fabulous Time!

This was our 2nd stay at The Sanctuary with our 19 friends and teens. (previous visit was in 2019). Overall, the stay was great and I would totally recommend this house for the space and location, but there were a few minor hiccups this stay. When we arrived we didn't have any sheets on the beds or any bath towels - I called and we had them within a few hours. We had also paid extra for just the hot tub to be heated and it took the first 2 days of the 5 total that we were there to get that figured out. A few things in the house need a little attention like a leaky/finicky kitchen faucet, showers that don't drain well and a broken 2nd floor dryer door that makes it unusable. (1st world problems... there is a working dryer on the 1st floor so it was fine) The kitchen needs a good deep clean and a little stock check. (only 2 small sheet pans in the whole kitchen for 2 ovens and a house this big?) There are two Viking ovens but the range unit has a broken door so you have to hold it shut to cook efficiently. Overall, the amount of space this house provides can't be beat and we all love having attached baths to each bedroom. The theater is amazing, the kitchen and dining areas are enormous, and the pool area is often out of the wind so it's enjoyable even on a cooler day. No rentals are perfect, but the hosts could easily fix the minor issues and this house would be close to perfection!

Poor communication with Mgmt Co-Mail box was Full!

Yale lock inoperable upon arrival & had to wait for key; —she thought I arrived “yesterday” and didn’t have my correct name. There were stained mattress pad, broken toilet seat, loose faucet, broken vanity door and cockroach, spiders & silverfish. Pool room equipment broken,tv remotes need addressing, no dvd in main living area, requested movie theatre instructions two months prior to stay and never got them,therefore, couldn’t play our movies. One thermostat not connected, others were low on batteries. Asked Vrbo to contact Owners but to no avail.

Excellent Property

Had a fantastic trip with our family to this property, there were a few cosmetic things in some of the bathrooms, but nothing that impacted the quality. Property location was fantastic, beach access, the pool and hot tub worked well. No complaints, would recommend this property and will use it again!

Great except for cleaning and as much as the rental cost, the sheets and towels should be provided. the inside of the shower doors are disgusting they have soap scum all over them they have not been cleaned in quite some time! As much as the cleaning fee is the house should be spotless

Beautiful property

Well stocked house , beautifully decorated house !!! We enjoyed our stay immensely and the amenities. We were disappointed that pool fridge was broken . Took 2 days to get hot tub heated . Kinda major fiasco when we got to house an another family showed up with res for same house . It was their booking agent fault but stressful for about an hour . Please be aware that linens provided but u need to make own beds. Also no pool towels with linens and no beach chairs with house . We purchased both at Walmart and left them at house for others to use after us . Our group also rented a cabana that was put up and taken down daily by a service . House has amazing views inside house and on deck and from two bedrooms . House has three coffee makers one being a Keruig. We would definitely look into this house again !

Wonderful beyond belief

This home and its views are beyond compare. If we could give it 10 stars we would ould. The owner is very responsive. It is beautifully decorated and carefully maintained. The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms spacious—each with a private bath. The soundproofing in the home is incredible. Elevator— this feature helped us so very much. We loaded and unloaded our luggage and groceries with the elevator. The outdoor furniture has cushions that are probably 4 inches thick and dry very quickly when it rains. The amount of outdoor furniture is abundant. The pool is beautiful. There is a private enclosed shower at the pool level with hot and cold water. In addition to the plentiful outdoor seating and main floor seating, there are gathering spots on all floors. There is a new gas grill that we enjoyed using. It cooked our foil wrapped salmon to perfection. High end finishing for everything. No expense spared. We thank God for the opportunity to have stayed in this lovely home and we are grateful the owner chooses to share it with others by renting it.

House was great! Manager and hot tub/pool - very frustrating

The house was amazing and we loved all the extra's the house offers - pool table, foosball, sand shuffleboard, theater -- we enjoyed it all. What we didn't enjoy was the pool and hot tub. We paid the extra fee for heating the pool, but the pool never got above 70 degrees. The hot tub was the same -- lukewarm. The manager was very slow to respond to us -- sometimes taking 18-20 hours to get back to us. In talking with the pool service (who came several times over our stay), the pool and hot tub have been having issues. The pool service said they had been fixing on the hot tub before our arrival, but they hadn't cleaned up all the sharp pieces of broken tile from the pool -- which ultimately didn't matter because the pool never got warm enough for us to use along with the hot tub. I feel the manager should have been upfront with us about the condition of the pool and hot tub, especially when I had reached out to her 3 days before our arrival and asked if we could pay to have the pool heated. Coming from the snow and ice of Minnesota, we were really looking forward to using the pool and the hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the pool and hot tub was a daily discussion and frustration for us.

Great for Parties!!

I recently rented this home to host all of my bridesmaids the night before the wedding. There was PLENTY of space. We brought in the hair and makeup artists who also enjoyed the set up. The only negative was the pool.... We had my videographer get shots of me at the house and the pool was GREEN and DISGUSTING. We called the owner who had someone come out who did nothing.... Our family wanted to use the pool for the kids and unfortunately, we couldn't. We were never given or offered a rebate for the pool being out of commission.

Great house in a great location.

We had over 20 family members on this trip from ages 3 to 80 and fun was had by everyone. The house was spacious with rooms we could all gather and areas we could be off to ourself if we wanted. The kitchen is huge with plenty of eating spaces for everyone. The walk-in pantry is nice to store food so it was not just lying around on the counters. The bedrooms are nice with comfy beds. The theater room became a nightly hangout for the younger crowd to get away. The pool, hot tub and backyard are great, but the hot tub needs a little maintenance where the tiles are missing on the outside but still worked fine. The beach was wonderful. I was worried being next to a public access walkway That it might get crowded, but that was not the case. We were able to spread out comfortably. Kroger is nearby which made it nice not having to drive far groceries. The house could use a little maintenance here and there as most seaside houses do but nothing that affected our enjoyment of our vacation. We would rent The Sanctuary again in a heartbeat.

Family Reunion

House is spacious. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all nicely done, pool was great and well-maintained. I would recommend that there should be a shower or hose at the top of the stairs before the patio where everyone could wash off the sand before entering the house. Also, for the cost of the week's rental, beach chairs should be included!
