Awesome Place

Rating Details: The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First time at Compass Rose. Great location and friendly folks. Spent most my time on the back porch.. Perfect for that morning sunrise and late night cool breeze and fireworks.. The location is great and layout is nice. Sent letter with photo of areas of concern in condo (Mold and repaired ceiling stained and not painted). It is in bad need of refreshing. Furniture is stained, kitchen cabinets are chipped. Condo has a moldy smile. I would not stay again.

Plenty of seating in living area.We loved the screen porch. Smaller bedroom does not have a ceiling fan and was warm, called and floor fan brought right away. Both king mattresses definitely need replacing, faucet leaking in hall bath.

Less than adequate!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Was very disappointed with the overall cleanliness.There were ants in the master bath window and sink even though they sprayed. There was a roach in the LR, also 3-4 roaches on the porch in the evening at least 3 times. The ceramic tile needs some serious cleaning of the grout. The kitchen cabinets and bathroom trim needs to be touched up.The bathtubs need safety bars and new shower liners. We probably will not stay in unit 11 again. We appreciate you resolving some of our initial concerns.

Loved it !CONCERNS : with 8 people in the unit, the hot/warm water was gone after the 1st bath. Cold showers ! Also, something is wrong with the A/C air you go in the condo, rooms on the right are warm/hot and rooms on the left are icey !If these things are repaired , I'd love to return !Thnx for asking.

Love time spent at Compass Rose

We had an issue with a broken bed and the Maintenance Staff came right away and repaired that. We definitely plan to be back.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo is in the perfect spot. Not crowded, no traffic noise. View of the ocean is ok, not great because 1st floor condo but I knew that going in. The condo was being cleaned when we arrived around 3:00 and when we were allowed in after 4, it was not clean. There was dirt under the couch and chairs so obviously nothing is ever moved to clean. There was dust that had been there for several weeks. We took the broom and dust pan and cleaned it ourselves. Through out the week, I did spot a few roaches. Not palamino bugs because I know what they are. There was a screen that was out and we called and it was taken care of on a Sunday which was much appreciated. The furniture is in much need of replacing. The king bed in the master was the one that I had and I felt like I was going to fall out of bed and it was because the mattress was so bad. It had a slope on one side so you had to get to the middle to be comfortable. I was in it alone so that was fine but a couple would have difficulties with it I am sure. The toilet in the master bath was very wobbly. The living room furniture was old as well. We chose not to rent it again for 2024 because the rent was increased by over $700 and I didn't feel like it was worth that price for what we saw. If everything was new then no problem.

Wonderful family time

We loved that it was a property with only 8 units rather than a huge high rise. Easy self check in. My only suggestions would be to replace the recliner and include a blow dryer in the bathrooms. We hope to make a return trip in the future.

Compass Rose is one of the top 3 places we have stayed!! We will be back next year. They even refunded us money for the elevator not working and we didnt even ask for any money back. First class people.

My unit could have been cleaner. The hallways should be cleaner

By leaving on thur I had no rain going home to Jersey. I would like those two days to be refunded.

Good with Caveats

Reviewer Comments: We have always enjoyed Garden City beaches and typically prefer a house but we rented two units at Compass Rose this time because we had hoped my 87 year old mom could join us and if so, she would need an elevator. Upon arrival we noticed the unkempt exterior corridors and stairways that seem to rarely (if ever) be cleaned. The landscaping is nice but someof the pool furniture is in disrepair and the dated property needs attention. Our two units were furnished similarly and were adequate but also less than pristine given their age and wear and tear due to being rentals obviously. The porch on the Oceanside did not appear to have been cleaned (furniture and floors were dirty and sandy) and we chose to give the inside additional cleaning as well since the job was done quickly (we were there when the housekeeping attendant arrived and there simply isn’t any possible way to thoroughly disinfect and properly clean three bedrooms and two baths in the span of time between the cleaner’s arrival and our text telling us the unit was ready. The cabinets in our room looked filthy under the sink and in the “pantry,” and the broom was left with wads of hair and dirt hanging from its bristles. Generally, vacation is about making memories with loved ones and we had an exceptionally good time due to the amazing weather, beautiful beach, and company of family. We just would not choose this building in the future and regret not having done more research before renting here.

Two weeks in paradise.

We had stayed in other units at this property in previous years. Love the location and overall setup.Our only issue this year was cleaning staff and check-in at Compass Rose 11. We were not able to get into the property until 8:30PM on our 1st day. We know that staffing is tough right now. We got to the property at 4PM and cleaning person was there, and we just waited in car. We got text notification that property was ready about 5:30PM. Went up to get in property and cleaning person said she wasn't done. Finally, we went up and into property at 8:30PM after calling Garden City 3 times. Unfortunately, the property was still dirty.

Not as I had expected

Reviewer Comments: Unfortunately there was quite an issue with roaches and the rooms were tiny. The den furniture was very old and the sofa was very hard. It was well stocked and the loaction was great! ( It took 2 calls and 2 days to get them to come spray for bugs.)

The condo itself needs some updating, the furniture is old and worn, the shower heads need to be replaced and there was no ladder to get to the top of the bunkbeds. Property was clean and had a great view.

Needs a good cleaning and update compared with the other condos. We have stayed in this this condo for quite a few years. The pool had no lights which we reported on the first day without any results. I think this is code violation. It is also very dangerous with the amount of young children that stay there.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location on beach with pool. However, the unit was dirty (bathtubs dirty, baseboards dirty, blood on one of the bedspreads and on curtains). They replaced the bedding but the curtains remained.....and apparently from the other recent reviews in the guest book at the unit the blood stains have been there awhile. Furniture is old and worn, with holes in the the chair arms. Outside grill is old, dirty and un-usable. Whole interior needs to be thrown out and replaced and repainted.We had good time otherwise but if you are looking for a pristine and well-kept unit this is certainly NOT the one. I have photographs if you want to see them.

Disappointment

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family and I have been staying in the area for almost 30 years and this was probably one of the worst units we have stayed in. To begin, the furniture was extremely dated and almost unusable. There was what seemed to be blood stains on the master bed room curtains. Furthermore the pool was unusable for majority of the trip because it was green and filled with scum. The elevators was also unusable, so much so that a person actually got stuck in it and the fire department had to be called. The garbage from the entire complex was so overfilled it was spilling into the parking lot. We are very dissatisfied in our stay this year and unfortunately would not recommend this unit to anyone.

Tried the code did not the cleaning lady was kind enough to call the main office to see if she could let me in with her key since it was only 10 minutes before 4 and the room was clean....GARDEN CITY REALITY would not allow her to open the door for us...We had to stand in the hall with 5 small children and wait for the code to reset at exactly 4PM...NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT FROM GARDEN CITY REALTY
